Looking for three friends from Brussels, whom I met in Iceland in late June

OK, Brussels! I need a miracle here.

On June 21st I was on a guided tour to Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland. In my group there were 3 friends from Brussels whom I had great time with, but we didn’t get a chance to exchange contact info at the end of the day. I am planning a BeNeLux trip in August and would like to catch up with them in Brussels.

They are in their early 50s. One Germany, one Poland, and one Colombia born.
Polish one works at EU. He also has a cover band where he plays guitar and is the lead singer while Colombian one is the drummer in the band. German one also plays with them time to time, and his instrument is also guitar. I don’t have a great memory with names but German one may be Richard with nickname Dick.

I know it is a long shot but who knows maybe Brussels is a small world.
If you know who they are and can get one of them reach out to me here, that would be awesome and a miracle!

4 Day Solo Trip Itinerary for Reykjavik and Around

I was in Iceland from June 18 to 22, 2026. I encourage women to do solo trip to Iceland! I have felt safe all the time. Met great people along the way. a/s/l > 46/Female/Turk from the USA (if important to know)

I had 4 full days in Iceland. Reykjavik was my hub.

June 18 - Landed in KEF early in the morning. Checked into the hotel. Stayed at CityHub (not knowing what kind of a hotel it was... strange hotel (you have to experience it to understand) but very central location, close to everything, clean, 24/7 host on site)

Walked around Reykjavik:

  • Hallgrímskirkja - interesting architecture - went to the top of the tower for city views.
    • There was a food truck close by - I ate pulled lamb in a hot dog bun. delicious.
  • Sun Voyager - Beautiful sculpture on the waterfront.
  • Harpa Concert Hall - One of Iceland's most iconic modern buildings. Went inside also.
  • Old Harbour - walked around. there are food places.
  • Sky Lagoon at 6pm - I wanted to experience at least one Lagoon. Since Blue Lagoon was too far to go, I picked Sky Lagoon. Everyone I talked to said Sky Lagoon is better than Blue Lagoon. Happy with my choice.
  • Cafe Loki - when I travel, I prefer to eat the local food only. Cafe Loki does traditional Icelandic food. I went there two different days to try different things. Including their famous desert.

June 19 - Day Trip#1 - Golden Circle

I used "Your Day Tours" for this one (sister company with Arctic Adventures). I picked it because of the small size of the group (19 ppl max) Our tour guide Artur was Icelandic with great stories.

(need water proof clothing)

June 20 - Day Trip#2 - South Coast

I used "Your Day Tours" for this one. Our tour guide Alex was Romanian immigrant with great info on the Iceland and shared his own experiences as someone who has been living there over 10years.

(need water proof clothing)

June 21 - Day Trip#3 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula

I used "EastWest" for this one. Again they do small group tours. Our tour guide Slavi was Bulgarian immigrant (18 years in Iceland) who was extremely funny, provided a lot of good info about the places we have seen and personal stories over culture (shock) and ways of living there as well.

(didn't necessarily need water proof clothing for activities but rain coat got handy when it rained)

Had dinner at Reykjavik Fish Restaurant at Old Harbor.

(I have met a great group of people on this trip. There were 3 friends from Brussels, Belgium (one German, one Polish, one Colombian) (wish stayed connected) and a couple (Honduran gal and Turkish guy) (stayed connected)).

June 22 - leave from KEF

Here are some additional helpful info:

Airport Transfers - I scheduled these in advance using Flybus by Icelandia. From KEF they take you to the bus terminal (BIS), and from there a smaller bus takes you to a predefined stop close to your hotel. Reverse works the same way (from predefined bus stop to bus terminal and from there to KEF)

What to pack - I am proud of my outfit choices! 3 items absolutely necessary are waterproof hiking boots, waterproof pants, and rain coat! Sunscreen is a must as well. Swimsuit for the lagoon. Otherwise I did a lot of layering with tshirt, sweather, fleece jacket, etc.

Here is my packing list for this exact itenary:

  • 1 waterproof rain jacket
  • 1 fleece
  • 2 long-sleeve tops
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 1 nicer dinner top
  • 1 hiking pant
  • 1 jeans/casual pant
  • underwear/socks for 5 days
  • waterproof walking shoes
  • swimsuit
  • sunglasses
  • sleep mask (I didn't need it but you may)
  • phone battery pack
  • medications and chargers

Apps to use - I downloaded bunch of apps but only two apps I used were google maps for walking around in the city and Hopp for taxis.

Cash use - I never had to use cash or credit card. I paid with Apple Pay everywhere.

Totally unrelated but I discovered the Icelandic band Kaleo and can't listen to them enough at the moment :)

I hope this inspires you and/or helps with your trip to Iceland!
