Starting over at 65

Hi all! I wanted to introduce myself and share a photo I took. I’m Dina.

I’m 65, and what surprises me most is that I feel as curious, vibrant, and excited about life as ever.
This season has been full of big decisions and honest questions.

What stays?
What goes?
What parts of myself did I leave behind that I want back?

After spending 30 years helping people navigate difficult moments, I’m realizing something: even with all my experience, rebuilding your own life requires reflection, courage, and a process you can trust.

So I’m sharing my own rebuild in real time.
Recognizing the season I’m in.
Deciding what comes next.
Letting go of what no longer fits.
Selling my house.
Moving across the country.
Creating a life that feels like mine.

At this age, I’m not interested in shrinking. I’m interested in becoming more myself.
We still get to choose.
We still get to explore.
We still get to build something beautiful.
Here’s to the next chapter. ❤️

Moving from NC to Pasadena.

Moving to Pasadena this summer and looking for a 12–18 month landing spot before eventually buying. My daughter attended Occidential years ago.

My priorities are walkability and quiet. I’d love to be able to walk to food shops, fab restaurants, fun bars, bookstores, and everyday errands, but still come home to a relatively peaceful environment.

Im in my sassy sixties. I’ve been focusing on the area roughly around Lake, Union, Green, Oakland, El Molino, and Madison. A few people have suggested that’s a good balance of activity and livability.

I’m particularly interested in smaller apartment buildings (20–30 units) instead of a large luxury complexes. Near a good bus line/Metro is a bonus
As a reference point, I’m considering 400 N Oakland, but I’m concerned about freeway noise.

Any buildings, streets, or hidden gems you’d recommend with a 1 bedroom 800+ ft. And are there areas within Pasadena that best balance walkability with a quieter feel?

Reading the threads I know this group has a lot of insights to share. Oh and if you know a rental agent that handles that area, I’d love to hear about it. Many thanks for helping me craft my next chapter.
