Special course: Natural language processing, large language model operations and knowledge graphs

In this autumn 2026 semester, I am running a special course titled "Natural language processing, large language model operations and knowledge graphs". 5 ECTS points. Lyngby Campus. E4B (Friday Monday). There is a limit on 40 and I currently have 10 signups so there is room for you.

You can read more about it here: https://people.compute.dtu.dk/faan/ps/Nielsen2026SpecialAutumn.pdf (where the signup email is)

https://neuro.compute.dtu.dk/supervisor-suggestor/ is an example of a possible project one could do in the course (you need to be on the DTU network to see it).

The special course has previously run. Seven students has answered the "Would you recommend the course?" evaluation item and with CampusAI summarizing them (using the prompt: "Could you summarize this evaluations from multiple students to a single unformatted paragraph and with sufficient anonymization so individual responses a not recognizable, omitting notes that are only from a single student."): "The students unanimously recommend the course, noting that it covers highly relevant, modern topics and fills an important gap in the current curriculum. Many emphasized the value of the hands-on approach and the high level of expertise demonstrated by the professors, particularly regarding the practical use of large language models."

Supervisor Suggestor

At the Section for Cognitive Systems at DTU Compute, we have been experimenting with a way to help students find a suitable thesis advisor. Last week, I set up this Web app (you need to be on the DTU network to use it! So VPN into DTU if you want to try it from remote):

http://neuro.compute.dtu.dk/supervisor-suggestor/

It is based on scientific publication data as recorded in Wikidata - only the title of the publication. This data is not complete with lots of potential DTU supervisors and their publications missing, - so it could mislead a student.

The bottom of the page lists a few points, e.g., "The matcher returns researchers that might not formally be able to act as primary supervisor, e.g., PhD Students, Postdocs, emeritus and others, but they might be able to facilitate. The matcher may also show researchers no longer affiliated with DTU."

The Web app also does not tell you how "loaded" the supervisors are, i.e. how many projects a supervisor handles. Neither about the "chemistry" of a supervisor.

Let me hear if you got any problem with the Web app.
