Looking for kidney disease toppers

Hi all, I'm struggling to get my dog to eat anything but rice and boiled chicken. I have an appointment with the vet this Friday so he will hopefully be prescribed something to help.

At the moment he is very nauseous/low appetite in the morning, he appetite is highest around 8pm. I have managed to convince him to eat a good amount of hill's kibble with tuna oil and a tiny bit of the tuna itself but different sources are telling me it's moderate to high in phosphorus.

He hates pumpkin, doesn't like salmon oil, chicken broth isn't enough to entice him to eat more than rice and chicken. Egg whites don't coat the kibble enough for him. He used to love cheese especially cheddar as a special treat but I know that's not good either.

Another problem is sometimes he'll eat a new food and then in a few days go off it. He liked royal canin wet for awhile, never liked hill's wet.

I'm in the UK so it has to be something I can get here.

Edit to add: what he has is similar to kidney disease as the treatment and prognosis is the same, it's called glomerulonephritis.

Renal prescription diet why is the nutritional value so bad?

Hello I feel like I need some reassurance or maybe help keep the diet nutritional.

My senior nearly 12 year old dog was diagnosed with glomerularnephitus about 2 and a half months ago. When I got the diagnosis I had already been on sites like allaboutdogfood so I knew the nutritional value of the prescription diets was very low so I put him on a raw food diet from nutriment and paleo ridge that was catered for kidney disease (same treatment for glomerulanephitus with low phosphorus and high quality protein) but recent about 2 weeks ago he has gone off the raw food. I tried gradually reintroducing it using rice and boiled chicken but he doesn't like it.

About 2 days ago I got hills dry kidney care and then royal canin's renal original wet food and he ate it all.

I feel like I'm in limbo wanting to support him nutritionally but also he is underweight so I don't want him to eat nothing or just rice and chicken because that is even worse nutritionally than raw or prescription. He is a greyhound and last time he was weighted recently he was about 28kg but he has a noticeable spine and more ribs than should be visible on a greyhound.

I'm thinking about getting a saluki or saluki x as my next dog, some questions.

Hi all, I'm growing curious about the saluki breed and considering it in a few years down the line. I own a senior greyhound, this would be after I give him a wonderful life, and have had greyhounds all my life. However, most of them were when I was a kid or still living at home, I now own my own house with a modest garden and I want more of a challenge with my next dog. Whilst I love greyhounds, and will own another in the future, I would like a dog that I can do longer walks with and take places they can run.

I'd most likely adopt a young adult or, if I got the chance, an older puppy. So questions:

- How often do they need to run? I have a greyhound gallop near me I could take them to on weekends

- How different are they from greyhounds?

- any specific health issues I would need to watch out for or keep on top of?
