Artist of the Day #50 - Taking Back Sunday

Bio

>For over two decades Taking Back Sunday have maintained a consistent chart presence, moving beyond their emo and post-hardcore roots into a more versatile brand of hard melodic rock. After paying their dues amid the East Coast punk scene, they became one of the more visible groups of the early-2000s emo boom. In 2002, they released their platinum-selling debut LP, Tell All Your Friends, which layered Adam Lazzara's emotional vocals and the dual-guitar assault of Reyes and Nolan, creating a classic hardcore sound with pop songwriting components. They soon vaulted into the mainstream with a trio of Top Ten albums including 2006's Louder Now. Despite a handful of significant lineup shifts, Taking Back Sunday have continued to record and tour into the 2020s.

Formed in 2014, the band began working out of an old horse barn in rural Leederville, pooling their collective consciousness in all-night jam sessions. Artist of the Day #34 - Congress the Band

Bio

>Congress the Band is a rising Southern rock and soul‑infused ensemble that sprang from the grassroots music culture of Charleston, South Carolina, where a group of friends translated backyard jams and open‑mic nights into tightly executed originals rooted in groove, chemistry, and dynamic musicianship. Since their beginnings in 2023, the band has carved out a signature sound that merges the rhythmic swagger of Southern rock with soulful groove and blues‑leaning guitar work, showcased in breakout singles like “Out The Door” and energized further by subsequent releases that balance raw emotional narrative with layered instrumental interplay. Their technical approach marries sharp, unhurried musicianship — crisp, locked‑in grooves, tasteful guitar riffs, and warm, resonant vocals — with a live ethos that emphasizes communal connection rather than sheer volume, a combination that has seen them build momentum across the Southeast through packed venues and festival appearances. As they continue to refine their sound with each release and performance, Congress the Band’s blend of precision and spontaneity positions them as one of the most compelling acts emerging from the contemporary roots‑rock circuit.
