jacobin pigeon!!!
(photo creds to their random owners on the internet, just thought yall should see how cool they are, I would post pictures of the ones I care for but unfortunately my facility has incredibly strict rules about pictures)
So I'm a zookeeper, and I actually take care of two jacobin pigeons as part of my collection!!! I literally SQUEALED when I saw that they were going to be part of our halloween event this year! Not enough people know these guys exist, which is sad, because they're incredible.
The two I take care of are both females, and they're of the lighter brown/white mottled variety. Their names are Ames and Skipper, and they're one of my favourites to work with. Skipper is so sweet and is trained to fly to my hand, she's very nosy and likes to "supervise" whatever I'm doing. I call her my little shadow. Ames is mean to me and likes to peck at my fingers but Skipper loves her so it's ok 😂
Fun fact is Jacobin pigeons get their name from an order of monks who used to wear similar hoods!!!
Anyways thank you so much adopt me admins and people this is my new favourite adm pet and it means so much to me as someone who cares for them irl!!! Yay! Happy halloween everyone!
