Question about getting dual citizenship with second great grandparents.

Hi there. I'm from Argentina. I know lately these conversations about citizenship by people with far ancestors receive a lot of hate. But I already have a EU citizenship as well. This is more of a curious question I have had for some years.

I have second great grandparents from Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium. All emigrated to Argentina around 1890. One of my great grandparents did ask for his Belgium passport if I remember properly but that was like around 1940 and he died around 1990. The chain ended there. My mum even holds their lastname.

Is there any way that I could start a claim of these citizenship?

What if Tapia and Galan play together for one tournament?

I had this thought where Tapia looked at the ranking and he had the #1 ranking shared with Coello. So in order to prank Coello, he calls Galan and convinces him to play a tournament together just to prank Arturo and be #1 in solitud. Tapia plays on the right side.

Then Arturo has no option but to play with Chingo. Chingo plays on the left side as he already did a few times. Then Galan and Tapia win in the final, making Tapia #1 in solitude and he mocks Arturo and they laugh at the end together.

Why don't we get this type of fun in Premier Padel? it would actually be awesome. Forced to play with another partner after 6 tournaments, for one match, and then, you can return to your regular partner.

Same mistake all over again by intermediates... let's have a talk.

Just had a match tonight. My partner kept doing the same mistakes I've noticed in intermediates in my past 5+ matches.

#1 lob return, lob this, lob that: Stop returning with lobs just because. Stop playing lobs just because. Most of the time at this level you can win points by being consistent playing lower balls. Strong balls, not so strong, some chiquitas. Use variations. Use the lob as a last resort if things aren't going well while playing low. Stop lobbing all the time for no reason. Not to mention often the lobs are shorter and I'm exposed to an attack while being at the net and we lose the point.

You can win the net also by playing low and transitioning if you feel you are not in danger.

#2 losing the net to a normal lob: So you are at the net. You are lobbed and the lob is not short. What do you do? you can go back, hit a bandeja/vibora, or let it bounce if it's an even better lob, and hit the bajada de pared. Let's say you have to run back until your serve line, and decide to go for the vibora or bandeja. Don't stay there!!! you hit these shots not necessarily to be aggressive, but the whole point of those shots (specially a forced bandeja) is to not lose the net. So you hit the bandeja, and immediately make two or three steps towards the net to be ready to attack and not concede the net to your rivals, who will otherwise attack you and win the point.

If you go for the bajada de pared, do not lob it unless the bounce is uncomfortable! play it hard! attack it. And go at the net again to pray if possible, or evaluate, but stop not taking advantage of a high bounce there. Hit an aggressive bajada or at least a decent one. And take it as high as possible. Don't let it get down to your waist. Hit at head/shoulder level.

#3 waiting for the ball on the serve: Some balls don't bounce too high on the walls. Especially if you are playing on the left side returning with your backhand, make a step forward and hit the ball early if possible. Don't do crazy stuff like returning after a double glass bounce. Not even pros do that often. Most of the time you want to be ready to hit the ball early. These balls to the corner are tricky.

#4 using slice from the back too much: These balls aren't great. They are safe, but often float too much and are slow. They are easy for your opponent to attack. Most of your back shots should be flat or with a little bit of topspin. Some chiquitas here and there might use slice, but not normal shots.

#5 playing slow/floating balls when your teammate is at the net: Slightly related to the previous point, but if you have a true intermediate player as a teammate, you will notice they will often smell blood and transition to the net. If you decided to stay at the back for whatever reason, make sure to not put your teammate in a difficult situation by playing an easy shot. Because an easy shot will be attacked to the side of your teammate and the point will be lost. And in this case, if the attack was a result of your poor/weak shot, then your teammate is not to blame, but you. Be firm with your shots, have intention on them. Be brave. If you go for a lob, it better be a good one... short lobs are a lost point.

And that's it people. I hope this is useful to you to become a truly intermediate player that can start playing more seriously.

We are 2000 people here helping each other, thank you! and a message from the Mod to you all.

Hello everyone. I created this subreddit back in 2018 to try to help people with digestive issues since I had been suffering from IBS and Microscopic colitis for some time.

Recently the subreddit has been growing. I'm glad to see the new people here.

There is an automod script to set any post with pictures as NSFW, but for some reason every year it breaks and I need to update it. I just updated it. It's not cool to see poo pictures appear right away in our timeline. Please mark your poo pictures as NSFW just in case :)

Please be respectful to others, and thank you for helping this community grow.

Fake profiles in Playtomic Spain?

I'm just curious about this because I just moved to another city, and I remember seeing some matches in my previous city with some profiles, and in this new city, the same person, opens matches as well. Weird. But then I saw that several of these profiles (some with AI generated images) are opening matches in different cities at the same time. Often, these profiles have no matches, or less than 2, despite being there for months if not 1+ years. Usually nobody enters those matches.

What's the end game here? are these baits trying to attract people to play a match and then the fake profile abandons the match one day before?

Best "rectangular" shaped SW that I can develop my own apps to?

I'm looking for a smartwatch with a rectangularish shape (I don't like them circulars) and I'm hoping to be able to run my own custom apps into it. I'd like something with gps, microphone, ability to pay (use my credit card).

Do you have any recommendation? The AI is sending me towards a Amazfit Active (Zepp OS) or Garmin Venu Sq 2 (Connect IQ) but I've no idea if there are other models with my requirements. I use Android on my main phone.

Thanks!

[Spain/Europe] any chance to choose the approximate weight of the racket I buy online?

When I buy in person I am able to see the weight. I want one around 365 grams but I have read stories online of people getting rackets above 370 and below 360 as well. A big margin. Online, they seem to sell rackets outside the manufacturer expected weight even. So, defective ones that somehow make it to the market without discounts or disclaimers. What would my best approach be here?

There aren't stores near my home now. Spain.

Is Gemma 4 26B 4A QAT the best option for 20-24 gb of Vram?

Qwen 3.6 27B and Qwen 3.6 35B 3A I can only run in q4 quants and I feel that they are not very good when context gets big. These models just need a higher quant by what I read.

I just started trying Gemma 4 26B 4A QAT which only occupies 15GB of Vram so there's plenty of room for context and it's going fast and good so far, and even fast thanks to MoE. I'm working on a HTML game.

How did it work for you?

If I had 32gb of vram I would probably go with the Qwens yes. But I have 32gb of unified, and only 20 to 24 gb available.

Gracias!

What are your configuration tricks to increase prefill and decode speed?

I'm not an expert on this but this is what I do. I have an old macbook with 32gb of unified ram so my definition of usable is 10 to 15 t/s. I know some of you want more than 50 t/s+ but many of us are not in that territory yet :)

  1. Play around with quants. Although we have to know we are using a dumber version of the model, so be careful.

  2. Trying MTP, MLX (if mac), Unsloth models, and other speculative decoding methods. Can't wait to try DSpark when it's available btw.

  3. Disabling reasoning.

  4. Using KV cache quantization (set to Q8).

  5. Not setting up a big context if not needed.

What else are you doing? I read you! thanks.

What is your favorite graphic IDE with agent for local coding?

I'm used to either Cursor or IntelliJ IDEA. I don't like text/terminal type of harnesses.

Which one have you found success with? these harnesses tend to fail with smaller models.

Another interesting interview with Sanyo Gutierrez talking about Valladolid, players, and more.

For those who are new to Padel, Sanyo Gutierrez was #1 in 2018 with Maxi Sanchez, he was #2 for several years (including 2022 playing with Tapia, 2016-2017 playing with Paquito) and has won dozen of tournaments being in the top #4 for 10 years. He also won 3 tournaments playing with Bela in 2021 beating often #1 Galan and Lebron.

Bit of summary: he mentions bad conditions for playing in Valladolid (same thing Tapia said) for both players and spectators (both on site and on TV). He discussed level of different players and couples, and gave his historic top 5 of players of all time: 1. Juan Martín Díaz, 2. Bela, 3. Gattiker, 4. Ale Lasaigues, 5. Ale Galan.

It's in Spanish but I hope you can auto translate it.

Can AI companies sell us models that are better than the open source ones?

So my idea is. Let's say that you have equipment to run AI locally. You spent 5K, 10K, who knows. We all have different setups. But definitely there is an investment.

Then, we are using free open source models. Let's say you are running Qwen 3.6 27B at full capacity or something even bigger maybe quantized a bit. But you wish there was a great model of size 70B, 100B, that could perform almost as good as a flagship. We know some companies such as Qwen have better models, they are not releasing them as open source.

What if we could just pay for them (50, 100 usd, and use them forever, even with some updates). Will this happen in the near future? or is piracy a problem that they won't be able to manage, so they will just prefer to sell us the inference per token accessed remotely as they do now?

For those thinking you wouldn't pay for a model. Well you already invested thousands on equipment, and electricity as well, it's not unreasonable to expect these companies to sell the models or make a profit.

The level of Padel was very low this weekend

Let's keep making tournaments under the sun, 40 degrees and wind with players vomiting and suffering. It's very good for Padel, sure.

That was unwatchable. No player performed close to 70% of their capabilities.

Share local AI capacity with friends through internet?

Let's say me and my friends spend 5K building some local AI capacity, and at the same time, it's idle 90% of the time (the reality in many cases).

Is there any way to share the inference capacity with my friends so that they can use it when I am not using it and viceversa?

Can a model be loaded in different shared hardware? Aka 4 computers with 64gb of unified memory running a model that requires 256gb of ram to be loaded?

If so how? I imagine most of us have our equipment idle most of the day so it makes sense to share.

The schedule needs to change in order to avoid summer temperatures

I really don't understand why players have to suffer like this under the sun and 40 degrees. Not only the players, the spectators suffer as well from the intense heat, for no benefit.

June, July, August, are months of strong heat in many countries. They should be playing tournaments in Latam right now. Temperatures there are between 10 and 22 degrees (Celsius) right now, perfect for padel.

They should play in the Middle East at the end of the year and the beginning of the year. And they should play in Europe between March and May, and between September and November.

This way they never have to play above 25 degrees, and are always giving a better show and less suffering.

I watch the matches from my home with AC, very chill, and I see the players can't even open their eyes from the sun. Sweating and suffering, struggling to walk. What is this? modern slavery? what for? European summer is not what it was 100 years ago. They need to prioritize avoiding summers worldwide.

It's time to think.

Péptidos. Consulta para mi viejo de 75 años.

Buenas.

Gracias, abrazo.

Quants had ruined my Local AI experience. I am hopeful again after using them correctly.

This is the second time I talk about this here. I started 5 months ago not knowing much. I had just found out that my mac with 32 GB of unified memory could run some decent local models.

Everyone recommended 4 bit quants and blabla. Only 1% loss blabla.

For months my agentic flows failed badly. Using qwen 27B, 35B, and others.

Until I listened to my heart, and to some knowledgeable people, and started using smaller models (like Gemma 4 12B) but with 8Bit quants. No unsloth, no MTP, no diffusion... no weird things, just a smaller model with default config but with a high quant. (Nothing against unsloth, I will retest with their models again in 8bit quant later).

The results are great. I got a working app in around 2 hours.

Recommendation:

Stop thinking that 4 bit quants don't make your model stupid for agentic tasks and tools calls.

Stop obsessing with 40 or 50 tokens per second as your definition of usable. I set my expectation at 10 t/s and if I get 15 I'm super happy, I don't care. As a human I can barely type one token per second. Why would I be mad at 10 t/s? quality over speed here, honey, you don't have a 20K equipment if you are running these small models. You don't get the luxury of degrading quality of an already small model, for a bit of speed.

That's it, I hope we can discuss this topic more.

Gym and Padel. How are you doing your weight training? played terrible due to muscle soreness.

Normally I go to the gym and then wait two days to play padel. Also, when I was going to the gym more often, I noticed the extra muscle mass in my legs and ass was making me a bit slower and it was harder to defend as I had to.

But I notice the strength from the gym, particularly in the upper body, helped me. This is why I don't wanna quit the gym totally.

The other day I went to play one day after a gym session... (close to 24 hours of rest) and god I was terrible. My grip was stiff due to forearm exercises. My legs super stiff as well, could barely move. I could only play at a decent level the last 30 minutes.

For this reason I will go back to not play padel after a gym session. Or also changing my gym routine to be more cardio/speed related and less weights.

How do you manage this?
