Another book finished for #bigbooksummer ! I really enjoyed this book, its mystery, and its characters. Felt almost like a mixture of an Alfred Hitchcock and a Nancy Drew mystery to me. Another enjoyable Georgette Heyer mystery.

I thoroughly enjoyed this May read. It was an impulse read, to which I’m glad I succumbed.

Only took me forever, but I finally put the finishing touches on my book journal spread for “Red River”.
I thought I planned for enough space for what I wanted to say, but still end up having to squeeze in my last couple of words by the end of the second page!
Pictures are sourced from various covers from different editions of this book and from screen shots from the classic movie with John Wayne and Montgomery Clift.

This was my first time reading a W.F. Harvey book. I’m really enjoying this little sub-genre of bibliomystery within the larger genre of golden age mysteries.
What I particularly enjoyed about this specific bibliomystery is that the book at the center of the mystery is actually a real book that exists in the real world. “The Life and Death of Mr. Badman” was written by John Bunyan, the author of “The Pilgrim’s Progress”. So, of course, as using pictures from a couple of covers for “The Mysterious Mr. Badman”, I couldn’t resist adding artwork from “The Life and Death of Mr. Badman”.
This was a very enjoyable read and a fun book journal spread to put together.

2nd Roderick Allen book’s book journal spread is finished. As usual, pictures come from the cover of different editions of this book that have been published over the years.

Almost forgot to post the book journal spread I completed for my buddy-read of Mansfield Park.

Another book journal spread, this time for #juneontherange2026 . While I didn’t end up enjoying this book quite as much as I hoped to, I did enjoy learning about the two men that I featured on this book journal spread (Dr. Simpson and Reverend Wright). I was able to find some newspaper articles on Dr. Simpson, which I included in the book journal spread, but sadly little else for either man.

Finished my choice for the #readchristie2026 for June: “best to be read in one sitting”. I was torn whether to choose this for July’s “best kept secret”, because I don’t hear it talked about out nearly enough.
The story is very visual and I found that I can almost “watch” it in my head to see what Christie wanted depicted on stage. As someone who struggles to mentally picture descriptions ad written on the page, I find this to be refreshing.

My wrap-up for April, using the stats from the StoryGraph and Margins apps.
Completed the journal spread for May for #readchristie2026 ! There were so many fun covers to choose from to create this spread!

Finished the book journal spread for the novella I read for Star Wars Day. I’m thinking about rereading “Scoundrels” since “Winner Lose All” was supposed to be a lead-in to that book. It’s been a while and I’ve only read it once, so I might be a bit overdue for a reread.
