I've got a 7-day trip mapped out from Milwaukee to Black Hill SD area. This will be my first proper road trip. I'm a bit nervous the first and last days will be too long, those are about 500mile days (mke to sioux falls). I'll be traveling solo on my 2012 Goldwing..

the microwave/vent in my new place failed. I pull the unit down and found that the vent from the microwave was barely attached. (hence all the grease on the cabinets 🤮
I'd like to install a venting hood and go with a countertop microwave.. I'm not sure what the best option will be to connect the new wall hood to the existing vent. I'd love to be able to seal/tape the connections properly.. I do have the cabinet above free, and though about going up first, then into the wall... Any thoughts?
(the wall duct is 3-1/4" x 10")
