In the flashback to Spear's childhood in the final ep of s2, we see that him and his dad were part of a larger tribe as they fought off the sabre tooth tigers that attacked their cave.

However, by the time of the opening scene in the pilot, we only see Spear and his wife & kids (before they were 'dispatched' by the red tyrannosaurs). This implies that it was just Spear and his family on their own.

Does anyone have any theories as to what happened to Spear's larger tribe? Maybe they all died off due to how brutal Spear's home island is. It wouldn't surprise me since the rest of them seemed to be useless in a fight and left Spear's dad & a teenage Spear to fight a group of tigers on their own.

Though i'm curious as it was implied thar Spear took over as tribal leader after his father died. So i'd have assumed that a great warrior like Spear would never allow it get it a situation where his family had no wider community security around them.
