Kush Audio UBK-2 vs UBK-1, thoughts?
I've been working with V1 for a few years, and a few months ago I finally got my hands on V2. While I'm happy by the added features and the expanded possibilities, I still can't seem to get it to sound quite like V1.
V2 is definitely capable of things that V1 simply couldn't do, like controlling attack and release or the eq section.. But for some reason, to my ears it lacks the immediacy and directness that made V1 so enjoyable to work with. V1 always felt very straightforward: a few controls, quick decisions, and I was already where I wanted to be. With V2, I sometimes feel like I spend more time understanding the relationships between the different blocks than actually shaping the sound.
It could be that I just need more time to fully grasp the architecture and workflow before it really clicks. I'm curious whether this is simply a learning curve issue of mine or if others have had a similar experience.
For those of you who've spent a good amount of time with both versions: do you find yourself preferring V2 overall, or do you still miss something about the simplicity and character of V1?
