Transfer blocked, can't demote, what to do?

I'm posting for a family member, so I'm sorry if I'm not super knowledgeable. He's a team lead, and he and his boss do not get along. I'm not saying he's perfect, but he shows up on time, doesn't call in, and does his work. She finds reasons to nitpick him, blames him for things that aren't his responsibility, etc.

The problem is, she won't let him leave. He's tried to transfer departments and gets denied. He tried to demote and got denied - the store mgr asked him why and he explained all the things. The lead got reprimanded and things improved for a while before going right back. She now gives him warnings "off the record." He's tried to transfer to a different store and that gets denied too.

In my mind, he's obviously doing an okay job if they're trying so hard to keep him, but that's not how he's treated.

I'm trying to understand the process of transferring and maybe give him some ideas to get around the roadblocks he's facing. He likes his coworkers and he likes his job and his store outside of what feels like targeted treatment from his coach. Any advice?

Terrible Dishwasher Experience

Not really sure where else to go, just frustrated with this whole thing. Tldr at the end.

We ordered a fairly expensive dishwasher. It was delivered and installed, and moments after the installers left, it started throwing errors. Whatever. Disappointing, but it happens. We call support and she was very friendly, and set us up with a replacement, although it was going to be another week before they could come. Not the end of the world.

Then the replacement shows up. I don't know what sort of condition it was in when they put it on their truck, but it was beat up by the time they were done. I was busy working, and they tried to hurry out the door. Fortunately my wife caught that the handle is nearly falling off and brought them back in to note it, but they said there was no way to tighten it and we have to call support again.

After they leave, we discover they damaged our counter. They clearly knew they did it (they broke a large piece off the laminate and it took it with them without saying anything).

We call support and are informed another replacement will now take WEEKS. Now, we're stuck dealing with HD's insurance processor, who is moving at a snail's pace and not responding or giving us any idea as to what happens next.

To top it all off, the day before the replacement arrives, we get a message that they're pushing it back ANOTHER 10 days. We were supposed to have this in late March, and it will now be mid May before we get one that's not broken, assuming something else doesn't go wrong.

I'm beyond frustrated. All I want to do is tell them to come get their junk, fix our counter, and give us our money back so we can go somewhere local that doesn't farm out their installers. Since we have no idea what's happening with the claim though, we're afraid they won't fix the counter if we cancel the order or have somebody else install something before they get to it.

Anybody have experience with this? Any guidance out there?

Tldr: 2 defective / broken dishwashers delivered and counter damaged, and now we're just stick waiting and want out. Seeking advice
