Has anyone seriously considered leaving TX after the election?

I’m not sure what I’m asking here, I just want to know if I’m alone in my thoughts.

I’ve been an ELA teacher for over 15 years. I love teaching and I love my subject and I love my students. I don’t want to do anything else and never have.

I am also terrified of this election. I simply do not believe the majority of Texans will vote in their own best interest.

I have been doing a lot of research on New Mexico. The fact that NM guarantees salaries, and has real unions and teacher protections.

But I’m a life long Texan. My world is here. I’m also in my 40s. I own a home, it’s less than three blocks from my parents. I live in DFW but teach in a surprisingly great district. However, the election is going to determine if great districts stay great. And I’m scared.

My 22 year old just graduated and against my begging and pleading not to, she’s started her own career as an English teacher. Here in Texas. I am worried about her future. My future. I’m too old to start over and too young to retire.

She and I took a spontaneous road trip to Albuquerque just to look around. Nice place to visit, but to move? I just don’t know.

So, I guess this ramble is to ask. Who has done it? Left for better opportunities? I don’t know anymore. I’m so disappointed in Texas and Texans. Even my own parents, who I love, refuse to vote against Abbott, Patrick and Paxton. Even though they know how public education is dying.

Is leaving a thing? The entire country is in an education crisis. Would leaving my home and all I know even be worth it?

If you read all this, thank you. I’m just having a rough morning. I talked to my mom who is on the way to get youngest granddaughter’s game and still somehow managed to make a ‘Talafreako’ comment in our conversation.

Eh, I didn’t realize it was so big

I got myself the newest paperwhite, and I’ve tried to like it. I like the way my eyes feel reading it. I’ve been using my phone app for years and I do notice a difference immediately between it and the kindle.

But it is way too big. I am not enjoying reading on this. Live and learn I suppose.

Last day of prime day sales, honest opinions needed. I’m considering ordering a basic version simply because it did feel better on the eyes. But should I even bother? I mean I cannot enjoy reading on this paperwhite. I know the basic is a little smaller, but how does it do in the dark? I mostly read in bed lights off, or on my patio in the evenings.

I use the kindle app on my iPhone and it works just fine, but I’m kind of considering a real Kindle

I have Kindle Unlimited and totally get my money’s worth. With prime days coming up I’ve been thinking, but I don’t know that I’d actually use it.

So what makes a Kindle better than the app? And is the paperwhite worth the extra cost?

I just don’t want to buy this thing and then have it sit. So, help me out here!

Texes results

I have to leave my computer today and I cannot get the log in to work from my phone! Do you receive the score in email? I got the email last night that said it’s coming, hasn’t posted yet.

I have tried everything to get my phone to open the site but it just doesn’t work. I’m going to go insane if I have to wait till tomorrow for this! LOL

I’ve gotten three quotes so far, and Tarrant is significantly the lowest bid. By almost $4000. I feel like it’s almost too good to be true. They have 4.5 stars on google, but I can’t stop thinking something’s up here. Looks similar, just the big price difference.

The other two are much closer. I have a 4th coming tomorrow and 5th and final Wednesday.

Anyone here used Tarrant, and are you pleased with results? I need this roof replaced in the next few weeks.
