What’s it like living in Brunswick West?

What’s the general vibe? Is it more calm and quiet or grungy and artsy? I’m looking for somewhere that is chill and importantly very safe. I’m currently living in the CBD and it’s just gotten a bit much lately and I’m hoping to move to somewhere a bit more peaceful but still close to everything.

- what are the parks like? Brunswick Park, Clifton park, Gilpin park.

- what is Union Square like?

- on your day to day, do you encounter people who are high on drugs? (Not trying to be judgemental. I’m moving from the city and it’s almost a daily occurrence so it’s something I’m trying to avoid if possible)

Really appreciate any insight from those who live here.

Insta360 Snap + Dji mic Mini combo - would a usb c splitter work for both? I need to connect the mic receiver to my phone. What should I do?

The insta360 Snap has been amazing but I find the audio from my iPhone lacking. I have a dji mic mini that produces great audio but I’ll need to plug it in. I’m wondering what could I use to plug in both the Insta snap and mic receiver. I cannot use the Bluetooth option for the dji mic as it sounds fuzzy and not usable at all.

Would appreciate any advice

Looking to buy an apartment in Melbourne and the strata fee seems quite high. How can I learn more about where this money is going?

Some background: I am looking to buy an apartment in Melbourne (inner suburbs) and I have already received the S32 from the agent. This building is an older build, there are no outstanding works or levies and the building fund is quite healthy (holding 2 mil). However, there aren’t really any amenities in this building. It is 14 stories high, there are lifts, a building manager (not concierge), there’s a basic gym and that’s about it.

There fee breakdown is:
- 11k to administrative fund
- 6k to maintenance fund.

How do I ask and who do I ask … “where is this money going to?” and “how can I suss out if there is anyway to know if jobs needed in the building are appointed to an actual good contractor or company rather than a business that charges an arm and a leg but that’s just how it is because we have a deal with them”. Basically, how do I know if the building is well managed. Given they do have 2 mil just sitting there, I’m inclined to think they’re doing something right but WHY are the fees so high for hardly any amenities?

I ask this because I know someone living in another apartment who found out that the residents were getting charged way more than normal for maintenance tasks around the building and their funds are almost depleted and they don’t know what to do about it.

Would love any advice on this!!
