Update on my WHOOP age at 10 weeks postpartum

Okay, update on my age. And I will say, being a first time parent navigating it all has been challenging…

Pre-pregnancy I had a WHOOP age of 25.6 and was consistently sitting around 8-9 years younger than my chronological age. During pregnancy, especially the last trimester, it climbed pretty fast as I reduced activity and prioritised rest. Baby arrived at 39+6 in early March and since then sleep has been absolute chaos with mostly 1.5-2.5 hour stretches overnight and still at 10 weeks postpartum.

What I find funny is WHOOP still seems to count a lot of my night wakes/feed/pump sessions as “light sleep” 😂 I guess technically I’m half asleep while feeding and pumping, but it definitely doesn’t feel restorative. Despite that, my metrics have started shifting positively recently. My current WHOOP age is now 33, which is still 2.1 years younger than my chronological age, and my pace of aging has dropped right down to 0.3x.

In the last fortnight I’ve
- Added Pilates back in
- 4 to 5 x 20-30 min walks a week with baby in the carrier
- Started 2 gentle jog/walk sessions per week from week 8 pp and
- Focused more on consistency and rebuilding my aerobic base rather than going hard as technically I am still recovering and in the “4th trimester”.

I work in corporate and tend to be very pedantic and perfectionistic in most things I do, so seeing these improvements has actually been really encouraging and gives me something tangible to work towards. Especially now that I’m carefully rebuilding my fitness and preparing my body for the Sydney Marathon… which I postponed to 2027 for obvious reasons 😅

Honestly, I expected postpartum, broken sleep, pumping around the clock to completely destroy every metric for much longer. Instead it seems like even small, consistent movement is helping pace of pacing.

If anyone’s interested, I’ll keep updating over the next few months to see whether I can eventually get my WHOOP age back to 8-9 years younger than my chronological age again. But we’ll see… this baby of mine is wildly unpredictable.
