How to go about asking for a raise even tho I just turned down an opportunity to interview for a promotion.

So I (25F) work in corporate medical/retail store for 3 years. I started at 13.50 and currently make 15.85 as a supervisor/store key holder. I am also in a program with the company to become licensed in my field.

I recently applied for the assistant manager position ($17.50) but I withdrew because the workload does not match the pay. I would be handling customer service and store numbers while studying for said program which is essentially college courses. On top of that, if I accept AM position and am on course to be licensed in November, and get hired as a license as well, I will then be doing License work and AM work all for solely license pay (I would be bumped up to that pay but no extra for also working as an AM).

On Saturday I was closing with a new hire and found out that her and the other 2 (all 18) new hires, that I have been training, are making $16.50. I fully understand that minimum wage has been raising so starting pay has as well. I also don’t think they should be paid less by any means, I’m happy they’re getting a livable wage for their age. However I don’t understand how I could be getting paid less than the person I’m teaching. I already don’t believe I get paid enough for all that I do. This means I am the least- paid employee even tho I have been here 2nd longest, and have the most responsibilities besides the manager. How do I go about this respectfully? Cause right now I’m pissed off
