‘Why am I paying £9k a year to be in 5hrs a week’

Just wanted to come here and say that people on tiktok truly do not understand how tuition fees work and it’s crazy to me that everyone’s complaining that they’re only in x hours a week when they primarily pick art or creative degrees.

I saw someone in a tiktok comment section say he/she/they are in 5 hours a week and it’s ridiculous that he/she/they have to pay £9k tuition for it a year and I think people don’t realise where their money is going.

It’s going to the lecturers to feed their kids and get transport to work, it gives you access to a library to actually help you succeed and multiple student and wellbeing services which people will probably need somewhere or later. It’s going on seminars and workshops to help you succeed and for your Microsoft 365 packages that you’ll definitely need for assignments and group work and communication. Yet people are picking drama or art degrees and moaning they’re going into sm debt to only get taught 5hrs a week lol.

Also what’s with the trend with people posting their timetables with their student id and full name at the top lol what.

Sorry for the rant but as an incoming fresher I think it’s crazy that people think they only pay to be taught and aren’t paying to use these detailed libraries and mh services and everything!
