If you’re thinking of starting it… go for it!
Just wanted to share my little success story for someone who may need it! I was diagnosed with PCOS unofficially when I was 19 or so. I had irregular periods, acne that wouldn’t go away, and my BMI was very much categorized as “obese” at the time. The only option that my OB at the time recommended was the birth control pill. Thus started my 12 year journey of being on oral contraceptive to “help” my PCOS. Fast forward, I get married in 2021 and in 2023 wanted to get off the pill to see what my periods would be like and to potentially see about conceiving. I got off the pill in February of 2023 and thought I would have it easy with a “normal” period (30 ish days) for 2 cycles. Then came a storm of previously mentioned PCOS symptoms: adult acne, irregular periods (up to 65-70 days apart) and I had gained significant weight and ended up at my highest weight in April of 2025. I also managed to have high cholesterol and was pre diabetic at the time. I struggled to figure out my PCOS with diet and exercise for over 2 years to no avail as my weight kept creeping up - I was heartbroken and felt like giving up. I asked my PCP and OB about starting a GLP1 (mostly because of weight loss but I had heard how wonderful it was for PCOS symptoms as well). I started Zepbound (2.5 mg) in May of 2025. I managed to lose 30 lbs in the span of 5 months, maintain a regular period + successfully track my ovulation, and reversed my cholesterol and pre diabetes.
Fast forward to November 2025, I got a positive pregnancy test. I was freaking out but my OB said not to worry, to stop the GLP1 and start some prenatal care. Needless to say, here I am with a healthy 1 month old baby boy! I had a relatively easy pregnancy with no significant issues and I honestly attribute a lot of that to being on Zepbound before conceiving. If you had told 20 year old me, who was scared that I’d never be able to conceive naturally- I never would have believed you. I plan on resuming Zepbound once cleared by my doctors once I finish breastfeeding because it clearly changed my life and helped with my PCOS symptoms.
If you’re looking for the sign to start- just do it! You really have nothing to lose and lots to gain ❤️
