Should I get on GLP1?

I’ve been big my whole life. Currently I weigh 235, I’m 5’5, and 20 yrs old. I was diagnosed with pcos and I’m on like month 3 of being on the prescribed pills. I’ve noticed a small decrease in my weight already. My mother though has apparently done a lot of research and thinks that I should get on glp1/zepbound. I talked to my doctor and she said that she prescribes it to people all the time and if I want it she will prescribe it. I’m just nervous and I think since I’m already starting to feel better on the pills I can wait to start glp1 and just put in real effort to loose weight. My mother though is basically Yolanda hadid and hates that I’m not skinny like her so she’s really pushing it. There’s tons of pros and cons and I’m just really stuck on what to do.

Insurance coverage for glp-1

This is more of a rant I need to put out into the void because it’s making me so depressed anytime I have to think about it. I have PMOS, PMDD, hypothyroidism, obese, I can keep going. I live a pretty active lifestyle but I believe a lot of my chronic illnesses stem from the stress I was under as a kid.

So now almost mid 30 adult has to deal with all the consequences of this. I’ve been trying for over a year to get zepbound covered. I have been on it paying close to $500 a month since January, but I can’t keep up with the cost. My doctor said she doesn’t recommend using a compound. I’m just so frustrated why it’s SO easy for people to get it covered just for being overweight. I know it’s all based on what insurance plan you have. I just hate how I have to go through so many loopholes to even consider getting it covered. I did sleep studies, I have sleep apnea but it’s still not good enough. Now I need to go to a heart specialist and I feel like that’s not even going to qualify me either.

I’ve honestly thought about just saying fuck it and trying everything to give myself type two diabetes so I can get it covered. If you couldn’t tell by now I live in America.

I’m just so frustrated. I just need some uplifting words or maybe a new way to approach getting it covered. This has been a life changing medicine for me and the thought of having to stop because I can’t afford it makes me sick.

What’s the point of having health insurance when i pay so much a month to not ever have coverage of anything. What’s going to happen when no one can afford any life saving medication? I know people have it way worse than me but I’m already working so fucking hard just to be able to keep up with paying bills and my medication.

I’m sorry for the long rant. I’m just at a point where I feel like giving up on everything. The only thing keeping me going right now are my animals and my husband. Other than that, I see no point anymore.

Navigating clothing while losing weight

I’m excited to eventually revamp my wardrobe when I’m closer to my goal weight, but how do you navigate the change in sizes as you’re losing weight without replacing your wardrobe multiple times?

Edited to add: I only have about 40lbs to lose so I’m guessing I’ll lose 2-3 sizes or so. Not as drastic as losing a high amount of weight.

Maintenance dose?

I’ve lost enough weight but I’ve gone back and forth between 2.5 and 5 mg of Zepbound. I had horrible side effects the first time I was on 5 so I went back down with the help of some free samples from doctors. I was denied the ability to stay on 2.5 from my insurance so my options are go back to 5 or stop. I’m scared of going back to 5. I don’t need to lose anymore weight and I’m terrified of the side effects. I understand that 2.5 isn’t an approved dose but damn it works for me. Anyone doing it like every 2 weeks or so and having luck keeping periods regular and all the other things Glp-1s do for us?

My other option is to go back to birth control.

Edited to add: I’m going to the doc on Monday to discuss options so I want to know before I go.

5’1 180 lbs :( keep gaining.. where to start

I just found out that I have PMOS after years of being undiagnosed because I never had the cysts, facial hair or missed period… mine shows up in EXTREME weight gain (I’m used to being 130) and fatigue, hair loss etc. I’m really tired. So I guess I just need encouragement. The plan feels overwhelming.. where is the best place to start?

Right now the plan is 10k steps a day, 3 weight training workouts a week, Berberine, inositol a million other supps, GLP1, protein.. PROTEIN. Eat at a certain time every day, sleep. I’m also ready sooo burntout and tired I feel flooded with the tips.

Tirzepatide and Metformin

I initially stopped metformin because of all the GI issues. Well to make this as least gross as possible, I stopped the Metformin and began tirzepatide and am now having the opposite GI issues if you know what I mean. Anyone had this happen? If you did both at the same time did they even each other out?

PCOS GLP LOW DOSE

Hi from Sweden! 🇸🇪

I’m looking for some experiences or advice from anyone who might be in a similar situation…

Here is a brief background:
I am 165 cm (5'5") and weigh 70 kg (154 lbs).

I have PCOS and haven't had my period for 8 months now. According to all my blood work, my blood sugar is perfectly stable. My main issue is that no matter how well I eat or how much I exercise, my weight completely plateaus and I cannot seem to lose a single kilo.

I’ve previously tried Metformin, but the only thing it did was prevent me from gaining more weight, it didn’t bring my period back.

Interestingly, the moment my weight drops below 64 kg (141 lbs), my period returns like clockwork.

Because of this, my plan now is to start Wegovy until I reach around 62 kg (136 lbs). Once I hit that goal, the plan is to switch back to Metformin to help maintain the weight loss.

I don't suffer from "food noise" at all, so my only real struggle is this stubborn weight plateau and the missing period due to not being under that 64 kg threshold.

Has anyone else been on a similar journey? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Preferred time of day for injection?

I take my first shot on Friday, which is a work from home day for me so it should be chill. I’m curious to know if anyone has a preferred time of day and why for their injection? I was planning to do it in the morning since that’s when I usually take supplements and I’ll remember. Wondering if I take it before or after eating breakfast? Does it matter?

FINALLY GOT IT

My biggest fear was developing diabetes. So I anxiously waited for my annual physical so I could ask my PCP. Appt was Friday and I didn’t even have to ask her because she knew my concern has always been weight management and labs have shown high IR and low vitamin D. I love my doctor because she was very direct and listened to my concerns so we decided on a more proactive approach. My Zepbound is set to arrive this week and hopefully it works for me. I opted for the kwikpen. I hate pills 😂 I’m excited to start this journey with my husband (currently on it as well). I’m glad we have this space to share our wins big or small!

Hoooowwww can I start a GLP on a low budget?

I’m feeling kind of defeated and could really use some advice from people who’ve actually been through this.
I have PCOS and I’ve struggled with my weight for years. I’m at the point where I know I need help. I’ve tried calorie counting, eating healthier, walking more, and I’ll lose a little before gaining it back. The constant hunger and food noise make it feel like I’m fighting my own body.
The problem is money.
I work, but I’m living paycheck to paycheck. I can’t afford $1,000+ a month for medications, and I don’t have hundreds of dollars every month to spend through telehealth either. I’m also trying to pay off debt and stay on top of bills, so my budget is pretty tight.
For those of you who started on a limited budget:
How did you afford it?
Did insurance cover any of it because of your PCOS or BMI?
Did you use compounded medication? If so, how much were you paying?
Are there any legitimate programs, pharmacies, or telehealth companies that are actually affordable?
Is there anything you wish you knew before getting started?
I’m not looking for shortcuts or anything sketchy. I just want to find the safest and most affordable path because I genuinely think a GLP medication could help me finally get control of my weight.
I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for you. ❤️

titration advice needed

hello!

i was previously receiving tirz through pomegranate health and hallandale pharmacy, but there was a mishap with pomegranate and for some reason they were unable to provide medication to a bunch of people for like a month. i was unfortunately one of those people.

because of that, my titration schedule got messed up, and now i’m not sure what to do. here is what happened:

i was on weeks 1-4 of the 2.5mg dosage of tirz. i then titrated up to 5mg on my 5th week. i was supposed to be receiving more medication, but it never came.

so on the 6th week, i only had 2.5mg left of medication. i took that, because its all i had.

on the 7th week, i had nothing. so i skipped last week.

this upcoming week, i have medication again. i switched to rift as my provider, still using hallandale pharmacy.

basically, should i restart the process over and do the 2.5mg for 4 weeks again? i’m not sure what i need to do here since pomegranate essentially screwed me over.

Titrating questions

Edit: My intention of this post isn’t to say I want to move up right this second or even after my next dose , I was getting insight for when 2.5mg does not work for me anymore, whenever that time is, and what everyone else has done etc. I plan on staying on every dose as long as I can!

Hello, I just wanted to get some experiences from other people, I go through fifty410 and I am currently on 2.5 mg of tirz My start date was June 11 and so far I’m down about 13 pounds. This Thursday will be my fourth shot and they want me to up my dose to 5 mg after this next shot, but I’m not sure if I’m ready yet and going from 2.5 to 5 is a big jump. They also wanted me to split dose, which I initially decided against just because of my job, so I’m taking the full 2.5 mg dose once a week. I don’t have many side effects. I get nausea here and there but it’s very very minimal and usually the day after shot day around midday, I am fatigued, but that’s about it.
Since I have the advantage of being on compounded instead of the quick pens, I of course can pick my dosage and I wanted to see if anyone else instead of doing the jump from 2.5 to 5 if they titrated up more slowly, like 2.5 to 3 or 3.5 etc until they got to 5 mg and how did that work for you, side effects etc?
2.5 mg is still working for me so I plan on staying on that as long as I can but I have noticed besides the first week when it’s getting closer to my shot day, I am ravenous so I think once I end up stalling out on the side of my dose, but I just wanted to get some opinions before I get to that time.

Thank you in advance!! (Also this is cross posted!)

Inositol? Berberine? Semaglutide? KPV? What’s making me feel so down/nauseous/depressed

I started these interventions over the last month from FINALLY being diagnosed with PMOS - I have the chronic fatigue, insulin resistance, weight gain side of PMOS.. I wish maybe I tracked a bit more accurately with when i started each.. KPV and SEMA at the LOWEST dose about a month ago.. inositol and Berberine about 2 weeks ago? But I’m feeling so emotionally sensitive and down, nauseous, and extremely fatigued. I’m not surprised with the fatigue and the nausea.. but the depression seems a bit surprising. Especially since it’s summer. Did anyone else have this experience? Or is there guidance? I don’t see my Dr or Natuopathic dr for a few weeks.

GLP-1 PCOS (PMOS) related question about insurance.

I keep hearing that POSSIBLY glp-1s will be covered by insurance for PMOS since they changed the name and there’s proof glp1 help PMOS. Do you think it’s worth it to try to see if my insurance will cover it again? I’m getting bloodwork done just to compare it from the time I started (7 months ago, down 30lbs, starting weight was 290), and I’m hoping with some results that it’s helping, my insurance will maybe cover it or partially? I can’t afford $500 a month on this med but it’s been a life changer. My insurance said they would only cover it if I was over 40 with a heart condition (I’m not lol), type 2 diabetes (I was pre diabetic when I started this), I did a couple sleep studies and I had mild sleep apnea but didn’t meet the criteria. I also for about 4 years, went off and on different meds that were supposed to “help” and they didn’t. Metformin destroyed my stomach and I was literally taking like 2000mg a day for 3 years straight with diet and exercise and I swear I gained weight. This glp has been the ONLY thing helping me. I’ve never been able to successfully lose weight, but the weight loss is great but I’m just happy to not be in pain 24/7.

Thanks for readying. TLDR: will my insurance cover a glp-1 with results after 6 months showing that it’s working to help my PCOS.

Should I stay on a GLP despite the scale not moving?

I’ve had a rocky journey with GLP injections being my first method.. I had terrible side effects.. fast forward to the past few months, and I’ve really enjoyed the Wegovy pill.. i’ve been on it for 4 months, but the past two months, the scale hasn’t moved at all.. as much as I’d like to see my weight go down again, I’m also just glad it hasn’t increased.. my issue now is that I cannot financially justify going up in dosage.. would you stay at the current dosage to not see the scale move, or am I essentially paying for nothing? I feel like my inflammation isn’t as bad when I take the medication, but I’m also having problems justifying paying so much to not actively be losing weight. I’d love to know what you all would do.
