Zepbound & Metformin

My endocrinologist prescribed me Zepbound 2.5mg but still wants me to continue taking 1000mg XR metformin. I’ve been on metformin for a year now so I don’t really have any side effects besides a bloated stomach if I take it with a small meal or a meal that’s heavy in carbs. It has helped me have more regular periods but hasn’t helped with weight loss or cravings. Anyways, my doctor said Zepbound would be better for weight loss and insulin resistance but that I would have to be on it for the rest of my life which is fine because I have a very high likelihood of developing diabetes due to genes—all my dad’s side of the family develop diabetes during their 40s or 50s—and I am in my early 30’s so want to prevent it.

Anyway, has anyone had this combination of metformin and Zepbound and how did you feel on both?

Is it’s normal for my 15 month Cavapoo to love sleeping

So my Cavapoo loves to sleep he does like to play and go on walks, but I think his favorite thing is to be sleeping. I feel like he had so much energy as a puppy but once he turned 9 months he started to really like sleeping. Is this normal behavior for a Cavapoo? He is supposed to be 69% toy poodle and 31% cavalier and I thought poodles had lots of energy? Maybe he takes after his cavalier side more?

RIP

I asked for advice on Saturday on when it was the right time to say goodbye and today was the day my dog went to sleep. He was diagnosed with liver cancer that had spread and he wasn’t even sleeping well the last few days. We did an in home euthanasia with Lap of Love and it was so painful but I hope he is at peace again and running freely chasing squirrels—he loved to do that when he was younger.

Dog has cancer, need advice

Hello so I am looking for advice: My 13.5 years old dog got an ultrasound last week because his blood work came back abnormal on his liver. The results came back and it showed he has tumors in his liver and spleen two vet think it’s cancer that has spread. Since he is older and it seems to be spreading they didn’t recommend surgery, and I don’t want him to get chemo because I know while it can extend his life he might feel worst.

I also have a brother who was diagnosed with leukemia and has been undergoing chemo this year and I know how bad he gets so I just don’t want that for my dog if it won’t cure him. So the only option left is to manage his pain, they gave him some pain meds yesterday, but my issue is that I don’t want him to suffer. He still eats and drinks water, but he has trouble walking and it seems that lying down sometimes is even uncomfortable for him.

I guess my question is when do I know it’s time for him to go? I want to schedule him an in-home euthanasia but I don’t want to do it too soon or too late—I don’t want him to be suffering. I took him to the emergency vet yesterday because my nieces said he wasn’t looking well and I asked the vet there but he wasn’t too helpful.

I am so sad and don’t want him to die he was my parents dog that I inherited when they moved away 3 years ago. They adopted him when he was around 4-8 months (we don’t know for sure) and I have been very attached to him. I would always watch him for my parents when they went on vacation and I pretty much always paid for all his vet bills.

Anyways if anyone has experience this with their dog how do you know it’s time to let them go?

Diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS last year but hard to lose weight. Thinking of GLP-1

So after having irregular periods all my life and having lots of the symptoms of PCOS/PMOS I was diagnosed last year (at 31), and my endocrinologist started me on metformin 500mg ER once a day. This year she told me to take 500mg 2x a day, it has helped me have somewhat more regular periods. Now I get them between 30-35 days where before it could be between 28 to 54 days or even more. Anyways, I haven’t been able to lose weight with the meds so I have been thinking of asking for a prescription of GLP-1 because I have heard great things about it. I do exercise and walk my dogs daily, I also try to eat healthish (but sometimes it’s hard because I get cravings for sweets 😣)

I also have a big history of diabetes from my dad’s side of the family everyone basically gets it during their 40s or 50s so I want to prevent that and I will probably have to be on a GLP-1 for life. My biggest concern is the price since my insurance doesn’t cover them. If my doctor says it’s okay to use it how much would I have to pay for it?

How much is your annual cost on your cavapoo?

I am curious how much everyone pays a year on their cavapoo?

Last year I paid around $12,000 for my cavapoo, but it was due to him being a puppy and doing training, vet visits, daycare, toys, crates, and other stuff. I am wondering how much I should budget this year for him now that he is 1 years old.

Worth it to buy a house in HCOL?

Hello so I live in MCOL area but have been thinking of moving to a HCOL area specifically the Los Angeles county area to be closer to my family. I currently own my house, but it’s worth about $350,000 which is nowhere near what a house cost in the LA county.

I can definitely afford to rent and maybe buy in the future but is it worth it financially speaking to buy a house in such a HCOL area? Or does it always just make sense to rent and just continue to invest if you want to retire early?

I get it can make sense if you plan on starting a family but I don’t see myself having kids in the future.

Picky Eater??

My Cavapoo just turned 1 year and he has been such a picky eater since he turned 7 months. Before then he would be such a great eater. It’s been such a challenge to get him to eat his 2 meals a day, he will eat his evening meal, but I feel like that’s not enough. His vet said he was at an ideal weight—he is 15.3lbs. I was wondering if it’s normal for him to be a picky eater and what I can do to make it better?

Dog started meds 6 weeks ago, wondering when they will start working?

Hi, my dog has had separation anxiety since I got him at 16 weeks. It never went away even though I tried to train him slowly and even got a certified separation anxiety trainer. He is a Cavapoo so I know his breed is prone to separation anxiety but I think he is just extra anxious. After working with the trainer for 4 months she recommended meds because the training was going so slow, he only got up to 5 minutes so I spoke to his vet and he got prescribed Prozac (fluoxetine) at 10mg. My dog is 15lbs.

He is currently on week 6 and so far I have noticed that he sleeps more and is not as playful as before—he will still play if I initiate it but not as much as he used too, but it could be that he is maturing since he is turning 1 tomorrow. He still seems like he is scared of many things, and he had very decreased appetite but it’s seems to finally be coming back. We are restating separation anxiety training this week, we took a break because I had to travel and also my trainer wanted to wait until 6 weeks because supposedly that’s when the med starts taking effect.

So far the only positive side effect that I noticed this week is that he doesn’t seem to get overwhelmed when we go on our walks before the meds his tail would be tucked in and he always wanted to go back home.

Anyways wondering if Prozac worked for your dog with separation anxiety, and if it did how long did it take before your dog started doing better being alone?

For context I am 32F and I started investing in 2019 and last month I finally reached $500,000 in stock market investments. When I began investing in 2019, I would think about this day and how I would have more freedom, but I don’t feel any happier, or don’t feel like I have more freedom.

I guess it has to do with the state of the world and how everything is so much more expensive than when I calculated my leanFI number which was $625,000 at that time. I am close but I honestly don’t feel like I can retire with that amount anymore.

Anyways has anyone reached a milestone but still don’t feel content? I might just need to go to therapy.
