Anyone made the switch to/from Proton?

After moving my mailboxes off Infomaniak couple of years back (into Zoho), I'm now looking at coming back since I'm looking at a bit of a more complete suite (with storage, docs and meetings).

I think I'm really familiar with Infomaniak's pros and cons (in addition to my experience, I read this sub frequently), but can't really make up my mind on Infomaniak vs Proton. The latter is way more polished, and although I'm an advanced user spending half of my life on command line or IDEs, I don't mind an idiot-proof, good looking UI for this type of tasks - and Infomaniak is light years behind from that point of view.

Proton's biggest downsides (lack of sync with standard apps, E2E pitfalls, higher costs) are all sort of moot to me because I only use web UI, still use Google for Contacts/Calendar, and don't need a ton of storage (~80GB files, ~5GB mail).

Figured who moved to or from Proton to Infomaniak has the answers I need - so if that is you, do you mind sharing your experience? Would you do that again? Any key feature gap (either way) I should be aware of?

Thank you!

Release Equity to Pay Mortgage

Hoping someone already went through this because my attempts at reading T&Cs, asking Google or ChatGPT are going blank.

Long story short, last year we had to move out of our 1bed (40% LTV, 12y left) and buy a larger place (75% LTV, 26y left). We don’t really want to be landlords but we’re attached to the 1bed and by selling last year we would have taken a 15% loss, so we decided to rent it out temporarily. Don’t know how long this will last.

We’re now approaching the remortgage stage and it occurred to me that if the interest % on the two properties remains similar (other remortgage is 9 months later) and if the amount we want to pay in monthly across the two properties is fixed (which it is), it makes sense to ‘shift’ interest on the rental (aka raise the LTV) so we take advantage of the cost of finance tax relief.

…which finally gets me to my question: is it possible/allowed/legal to release equity from a property and immediately use it to pay another mortgage? It’s two different banks if that’s relevant but they could become the same if that was the only blocker. Is it a common move?

Thanks!

Alternatives to cPanel?

Has anyone made the move from cPanel to one of the alternatives?

I’ve long accepted the feature stagnation and terrible support (they literally don’t read what you send them), but the ever increasing prices and the triplet of CVEs had me looking for alternatives.

Not looking for a list - I’ve googled and have 5/6 to review in addition to the classics (Plesk but under same ownership can’t be trusted or DirectAdmin), what I’m keen to understand is what did people running businesses on cPanel do. A big concern I have is that some panels come and go and migrating is a pain - and assessing the stability and future prospects of an option isn’t easy.

Thanks!
