I moved into a newly renovated place (in an old house though) in May. In the first couple months I spotted a mouse at night in the kitchen, so I told the landlord. He assured me they had pest control come annually and they’d just come in February, and gave me some traps.

I put probably 10 traps around the kitchen where I saw him traveling, with chocolate and PB, and left them for about a month with no results. I saw no signs of the mouse so I gave up. Granted I still keep my place SUPER clean, literally my entire pantry is in zip lock bags and I take the trash out every other day. There is no food for them at all.

Anyway, a couple days ago I’m sitting on the couch and he comes running through the living room straight under me on the couch. There’s no food or anything outside of the kitchen so I’m shocked that he would come that way, and worried that might indicate a big mouse problem at this point. That said I don’t ever hear them squeaking or moving in the walls even at night so I also don’t think it’s a full infestation.. yet.

I texted my landlord more sternly asking about pest control because there are some openings (behind washer/dryer mainly) where I can see droppings and have seen him travel along.

I’m so stuck because everything online says if you place a few traps you usually can get them within a day or two and I’ve never even seen them come out when I have traps down, despite definitely coming out otherwise. And my landlord seems stubborn to not spend more money on pest control despite it being his responsibility.

Any tips? Should i pester my landlord more or try more DIY solutions? Thanks!

I saw a guy near Union Square this evening who was seemingly walking a turkey with him? I.e. he was just walking down the sidewalk but clearly coaxing this turkey that was gladly following him. Not sure if he was feeding it or what, I’d assume so. Have people seen this guy before? Is he a known character in the area?

Hi! Recently moved in the area and got Astound at my new place. When the guy came to install it, he said they didn’t have lines to my house and he had to put them in himself, which he did same day and it seemed to work.

However ever since, my internet has been shoddy. Sometimes both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz fail, but much of the time the 5Ghz network is not working so only the slower 2.4Ghz network works, which is way slower than what I’m paying for so obviously not okay.

Has anyone else had this specific issue with Astound? Called their support but they just told me to restart the modem, which always fixes it.. for like a single day. Then it fails again.

Hi! Does anybody know when the volleyball group plays in Lincoln Park? I want to join but haven’t gotten the chance to ask/figure out their schedule.

Saw the post 3 days ago about concrete being poured but saw a couple people I follow on Strava seemed to ride it today, is it officially open yet? Or more of a “go around the barricades” situation?

Headed back to Houston soon and very eager to check it out.
