On 10/1 I was canoeing in the Adirondacks and happened to find a Bald Eagle enjoying the fall colors as much as I was. He wasn't a big fan of people it being a very remote pond and all so it took me about an hour just standing in the water knee deep quietly then he decided to appear in the perfect spot in front of the leaves and take a nice flight. Just as fast as he appeared he was gone but I was thankfully able to snap some pictures first!

First trip out in the new Echo and my first time in a canoe in probably 20 years. Paddled with the current out to Lake Ontario using the canoe paddle and then back in using a double blade kayak paddle. I'm a bigger guy at 6 foot 250lbs and I'm glad I didn't go any smaller than the Echo. It was very easy to maneuver and with the kayak paddle I could fly even with the wind in my face. I think I need a much longer kayak paddle as I got absolutely soaked even before the rain hit. Still have a ton to learn but between entering the boat and the kayak paddle I was really surprised how wet I got. Have to work on that before the temps drop.

Awesome to have a new hobby to work at and do some overnight trips in the Adirondacks and hit up all the waterways I always see on my way to and from hiking. It was super easy to put it on the roof of my F150 alone and very secure. I might stick with this instead of a rack.

Grabbed site 131 last minute which had an absolutely incredible view from its beach area. Weather was so good I slept in a screen tent on a cot didn't even put up the tent. Not a single drop of wind you could hear the loons echoing off the shorelines in the morning it was incredible and hardly anyone there since it was the day after labor day

Made a quick trip up to break in my new Soloman hiking shoes, get some solitude, and check our the reservoir. This is such an underrated section of the park. I only saw one couple on the fire tower hike and one family launching kayaks on the lake. It was beautiful with everything bright green, no bugs, and a perfect day. I can't wait for fall hiking in the high peaks but this is one of those areas of the park that really is special. The dirt road wasn't bad at all I dodged a few big holes but no mud and hardly any rough road. My only regret is not bringing a canoe to paddle but instead I trekked down the shore aways and set up a chair to relax after hiking. Fish popping everywhere, some big prints on the sand, and no crowds

Moving from a fully furnished apartment this month to a completely unfurnished house had me scrambling to buy furniture on a budget including a mattress. I've had decent luck in the past going to mattress liquidators in larger cities and getting deals but I'm in a smaller town here and options were limited. I ended up buying the Sweetnight Memory foam mattress in a box off Amazon in a king for 400 and boy was that a mistake. I went from a beautiful king Sterns and Foster to this thing and I lasted 2 nights. Went full deep dive researching down the rabbit hole of mattresses. Posted on here realized all these mattress in a box 2k plus mattresses are close to a scam....felt super lost.

Then I went to a local place and started just trying everything. Really liked a few king coils in the 1200 range. Told the sales girl I really wanted to try a Sealy elite as I've read good thing on here. One lay down and I was sold. Price-2300. I went home sold on the fact I was going to spent that much and just go grab it in the truck just needed a stiff drink to stomach the decision. Low and behold I find this deal online at Costco for 879 for the the Sealy Posturpedic Pro. Then I call to ask and she tells me actually it's 679 in store. I renewed my membership and drove there in the truck. Guy coming out with one on the way in and my heart sank thinking this is it. I found one last one, through it on a flat cart, bumbled through the crowds at Costco and got it to the truck strapped it in the bed and drove home. After 3 nights I'm in love. The coils are great its cool, supporting, firm enough for a 250lb guy but soft enough for side sleeping.

Don't fall for the online mattress scam folks. Sealy, beautyrest, Sterns and Foster etc have been around forever for a reason. Find a great deal by scouring Costco, Facebook, craigslist, or whatever means. Your back will thank you. Thank you to everyone who replied to my thread and assured me I wasn't crazy and that this onslaut of online mattress companies in a box is just great marketing. And also that the Pro and elite have the same coil system
