Which aero parts actually have a noticeably positive aero effect?

I'm asking in the context of driving fast on a track, like the Nordschleife.

I know that there are many parts for this car, front splitter extensions, rear "diffusers", etc.

To me, most of them look purely cosmetic.

So far, I've gotten confirmation that this wing truly works, but it's a bit extreme.

Then there's this stuff which works according to the manufacturer, but idk.

Do you know of any parts which actually help?

Turbo pressure gauge jumping around

Recently I noticed that under a prolonged full throttle, the turbo pressure gauge on my dash seems to jump around by about 1/6th of the range. I don't feel any change in power, just the bar keeps fluttering up/down.

It doesn't change smoothly, it jumps between two values.

Has anyone encountered this?

Is this just a visual artifact or maybe a defective sensor?

I only encountered it recently for the first time on an uphill on nurburgring.

Wheel and tire comfort

What are your experiences?

I just switched from worn PZ4 on stock PFL 19x8 wheels to fresh PZ5 on Tomason TN25 19x8.5 and damn, what an upgrade in comfort that is.

Feels much less crashy over bumps.

I wonder if it's mostly the tires or mostly the (much) lighter wheels?

The PZ5's also have a significantly different grip behaviour and much less wheel hop, but that may be in part due to the fact that my PZ4's were worn down to being semislicks.

Note: I went for PZ5 instead of PS4S because they were 20% cheaper

Tyre selection for a FWD hoon + daily

I have an i30N that I drive sorta daily + harder on the weekends. I'm also planning a trip to the ring (2x700km) and some trackdays this summer.

235/35 R19

I've been given all of these as recommendations:

  • PS4S
  • PS5 (-11% price vs PS4S)
  • F1A6 (-12%)
  • F1SS (-11%)
  • SC7 (-11%)
    • was told: shorter lifespan, harder sidewall (than PS4S)
  • PZ5 (-16%)
  • Yokohama V107 (-29%)

I'm currently on P Zeros, the old version (not PZ5).

Which of these (or any other ones) would you recommend?

The oil and tires question (summer edition)

So, I have an EU i30N with GPF (for now anyway)

I’m looking for a good summer oil for daily + weekend hooning + a few track days. Ambient temps can reach ~37°C, so I’m considering 5W-30, 5W-40, or maybe 0W-40, over the stock 0W30.

Since it's (momentarily) got a GPF, it can't be a full-SAPS oil.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations?

Next thing is the tires.

It's currently on some kind of P Zeros, probably just a later set of the stock model (from the previous owner).

I'm looking to put something else onto it (cause I'm fed up with cold understeer and hop), but there's too much choice for me 😅.

I know that I probably don't want SC7's because they're reportedly really stiff (despite all of their other pros).

The roads are kinda ass where I live and it's already on the limit of my tolerance with the PZs.
