Why not many Indians who have lived and worked in US for many years do not go back to India to FIRE?

Hi all,

Many Indians who live and work in US, they can earn enough over a decade or two to achieve FIRE in India. I’m not Indian so I’m curious to understand why not that many Indians return to India to achieve FIRE and live an stress-free life (free of work stress).

For the context, I’m not Indian and I am married to an Indian, I’ve visited India several times. I’m aware of pros and cons of India. I know it has its own challenges (honking, air pollution, traffic, street cleanliness, weather temperature, less nature accessibility compared to USA) and at the same time it has its own pros (proximity ti family) and if you FIRE in India, all the perks you get by having a luxurious life there.

So why not that many Indians return to India to live in FIRE after a decade or two working in US?
Or is it that a good number go back and I am unaware ? :)

Green card for an Iranian

Hi all,

I’m a US citizen, born and raise in iran. So I hold dual nationality. I applied for my mom’s green card last September, she was in US at the time on a tourist visa. She got her EAD (work authorization card), her travel card and green card still pending. she had her interview in January 2026 and since then no news, no update.

I know processing of all green card applications has been paused for Iran and 38 more countries. BUT I want to ask if anyone has done anything to get their green card? Any lawyers ? Maybe filing a complaint?

Appreciate any help and input
Thanks

Pregnancy safe oil/cream for stretch marks

Hi all,

when did you start using oils/creams on your belly for stretch marks, and what products actually worked well for you?

I’ve heard nothing can fully guarantee prevention, but I’d love recommendations for things that helped with skin elasticity, itching, or minimizing marks

First time pregnant, 37F. I’m confused about how to workout during pregnancy

Hi all,

Before pregnancy I used to workout regularly 4-5x a week, a mix of weightlifting and HIIT. My weightlifting sessions were heavy for my size (I’m 5 2 tall, 133 lb): 200lb deadlift, 155 back squat, 135 front squat, (and relatively lighter upper body) 100 lb bench etc.

Since pregnancy I was advised not to lift heavy and keep my heart rate below 140. A second OBGYN told me to keep it below 150! And it’s still low. On a medium level difficulty my heart rate sometimes go up higher than 150.

I’m 10 weeks pregnant now, and I’ve stopped my previous workout routine. I now do pregnancy friendly strength training from YouTube (which is still relatively light) and cycling (in which I keep my heart rate below 150). I’m advised not to run also.

Can you shed light what’s the right thing to do? Is the heart rate 150 really necessary? Or as long as I pass the “talking test” it is ok?

Many thanks
