Calming down in both ways?

When people say whippets become their true sleepy selves around 2-3 years, in your experience does this also mean a generally more calm demeanour- as in, generally more chilled in other situations?

Tips / sympathy for evening teenage angst

Our 10 month boy is currently going through a stage where he just won’t get the message it’s bedtime, this goes on from about 7-10 where he paces, scratched and digs the sofa. No amount of playing, training, walks, food, novel things helps it seems. It feels like every evening at the moment we end up telling him off for digging the sofa in this aimless way and then he’ll lie down and fall asleep.

Any tips or similar pups out there? Did this phase pass and if so, when? Or did you do something specific that helped?

He usually has about 2-3 off lead walks a day, around 30-40mins each and other wandering on lead, watching the world go by, training and playing so don’t feel that stuff is lacking.

When did your teen whippets stop this evening restlessness… our boy is 9 months and from about 6-8pm he is a bit of a pain in the butt. Clearly tired and ready to nap but just wants to keep going. He’s brilliant knowing when he’s tired during the day and naps on the sofa or his bed. He’s even started just lying about sometimes which I think is quite mature for his age. Just wondered if anyone had strategies for getting through this witching hour and when it ended for yours… if it ever did!

Those of you who have had different breeds, from what you can tell, what behaviours, quirks are completely unique to whippets (rather than general dog traits they all have…)?
