Stolen Bike Update: Back on two wheels

Stolen Bike Update: Back on two wheels

Hey friends, wanted to give you a quick update. I posted here about a stolen Surly Trucker on Tuesday. I really appreciate all the support and offers of assistance everyone here made, it meant a lot! I was able to source another Trucker in my size, the folks at Tangletown Bike Shop went way above and beyond to help me out and got me rolling again on 24 hrs notice. Seriously can't say how great they were, show them some love if you have the chance. I set out this morning northbound towards Duluth to begin the lake Superior circle, I'm in Pine City tonight. So grateful to be able to carry on with the tour, I plan to make it back to the Twin Cities by the end of the month before the Amtrak home. Thanks again for the love ❤️

Stolen Surly Trucker while visiting on tour

Good morning bike friends, I'm currently passing through the twin cities on a tour which started in Chicago and was intended to take me up around Lake Superior. Sadly my bike was taken from a bike rack at Hennepin and 3rd St yesterday afternoon. I've included a picture and a brief description below, hoping y'all can crosspost or refer me to any local message boards for folks to keep an eye out for it. I know chances or recovery are very slim.

2022 Surly Disc Trucker, 56cm, Black. Marathon Mondial tires. Brooks C17 saddle. Hand built rear wheel with HED Belgium G rim. Black REI top tube bag. Black Bontrager saddle bag. Tubus rear rack. Black bar tape (just installed). Four bottle cages. Stickers on the seat tube read "Wheel and Sprocket" and "Recyclery."

Most of my gear was not with the bike when it was taken and I'm still considering how to proceed. I've put my life on hold for the next month for this trip so I'm still hoping to find a way forward. Obviously feeling pretty shattered, this was the bike that carried me across the country a couple years ago. Appreciate any resources or condolences you can offer. Thanks MSP ❤️

Update 4pm: Thanks everyone for the support and generous offers of assistance, it all meant a lot to me on a very tough day!

I connected with the folks at Tangletown Bikes about a new disc trucker and they're gonna put a rush on and have it ready to go tomorrow. Huge shout out to Mike and everyone there for being so kind and accommodating! I'll be able to replace the rest of my gear and get rolling towards Deluth on Thursday. I'm fortunate enough to have the resources to do this refit and it makes the most sense to me to stick with a trucker cause it's what I know. The whole experience has made me realize that the stuff I lost is all replaceable but the time I've set aside to be on tour is priceless. I'm so incredibly relieved to be able to carry on!

If everything goes to plan, I'll be back in your fair cities by the end of the month, thanks again for your kind words ❤️

Seeking advice for a tour around Lake Superior

I'm preparing to set out from Chicago next weekend. I'll be riding with a friend as far as Minneapolis and continuing solo to Deluth where I will begin circumnavigating Lake Superior clockwise. My past tours include the Lake Michigan circle tour and the TransAm Trail East to West.

I'd be very appreciative for any resources about the route around Superior, especially the frequency of towns and service stops, good roads to follow, experiences crossing the US/Canada border, whether I will need to change currency, tips for riding through bear country, any sights I should seek out or things I should do! Thx!
