Lace chart help

Lace chart help

I am currently trying to begin the Quiet Evening Shawl by Venera Sharipova.

I have some experience with lace knitting and even reading charts, but I have never done any type of increasing pattern. This one is a triangle shawl.

Here is my predicament:

I started my garter tab nice and easy with my 9 stitches on my needle. I follow the first written out direction for the set up row: Work set-up row: k3, p1, pm, p1, pm, p1, k3

I then attempt to follow the second step:

Work in the following way: k3, row 1 of the chart, sm, k1, sm, row 1 of the chart, k3.

I attempt to follow row 1 of the chart, knowing that I read in different directions depending on what side of the shawl I'm on BUT the first row of the chart is just a yarn over. No knit stitches? How does that work if my existing stitch is there?do I just yarn over and assume I knit the next stitch? I know I must not be reading this correctly but can someone help me figure out what I need to do for the first row(s)? Reading the chart it looks like I'm not actually increasing stitch count until row 7? Is that right?

I appreciate any tips! Thank you!!!

Guava

What's the tea on growing the different types of guava here? Strawberry? Pineapple? Anyone have experience getting a large harvest? I love the fruit and wanted to try my hand at it.

Does anyone have any pointers on where it's being sold or have cuttings for sale/trade/free?
