I knitted knitting earrings!

I’ve been doing some wire wrapping with a friend lately and thought, “I bet I could knit that.” Then of course, the head pins looked like straight needles and here we are.

Knitted with 28-gauge wire on 2mm needles.

66% on the body!

I got an insane amount of my sweater done over the weekend- almost 20%! This is my first ever sweater, a heavily modified Nordic Mix with patterns from Andrea Rangel and a couple doodle cards. I started this in April, and expected to make much slower progress than I have been- at this rate I’ll finish it before it’s even cool enough to wear it!

Yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash in Winter White and Berry Pink~

Thought Problem: Public Knitting Demonstration

This is on me, because I volunteered but didn't think anyone would think that a knitting demo would be of interest. BUT I will now be doing a knitting demo for a small community event (2-3 hours, outside).

I'm thinking just bringing some past samples, nice yarns, maybe a mixture of needle types to answer questions, but then just working on whatever current project I have. But I'm curious if anyone has done anything similar, and what have you done?

Should I start and bring an elaborate project? Should I just do quick small things like ornaments that I can knock out finished pieces quickly?

My first self-drafted sweater!

I was inspired by my trip to Scotland and made this highland cow sweater. Tension kinda sucks because I frogged the whole sweater once, but I'm still quite happy with it!

Yarns used:

Novita Nordic wool

Ginger twist studio Leading lady lace

Gepard Woolia

New to knitting, need to figure out needle size

I want to make a simple boat neck sweater ( just a few rectangles and sew them together, will be my first time knitting as a crocheter)
Will be using 80% cotton, 20% milk fiber 3ply ( recommended needle is 3mm)
But i want that flowy kind of fabric which doesnt have gaps but is still flowy and breathable. Which size needles should i use

How do some people practice their craft for (what seems like) hours and hours everyday ?

I am in my mid twenties and I love knitting and crocheting (particularly Tunisian!! ;) ), however it can cause my wrists, hands, arms, and elbows to hurt quite a bit if I’m doing it for several hours a day for even a few days. I see so many creators showing off all their amazing makes on YouTube and here on Reddit, and I want to know the secrets to being able to create that type of volume without crippling pain!

What do you do that keeps you able to knit and crochet as much as you like? How and how long do you rest when feeling pain without loosing your crojo / groove / excitement for projects ?

First ever garment

Ok so after 4 days I've finally finished my first ever hat. I made it from a free pattern I found on ravelry.

I made it using James C.Brett Cotton waves in shade WV09- this is dye lot 50 (idk how much yarn details I need to give in these posts). It fits pretty well and i love the colour and feel of it.

Now I'm ready to do it all over again.

No pic of how well it fits bc of privacy and stuff so you'll have to trust me about the fit being good. It's not blocked yet but idk if I'm gonna block it or not since it already fits.

Hope yall enjoy looking at this as much as I do. I also included a picture of the extra skein of the yarn that I got since I thought I needed 2 and i didnt.

Made this baby blanket for friends who are first time grandparents!

My dear friends have just become first-time grandparents 😊 and I’m so excited for them! I started planning this blanket when they first broke the news that their daughter was expecting and I finished the blanket a week ago, just in time as the baby arrived a few days ago.

Stain in woolen sweater

I have a few stains in my woolen storm sweater. They have been there for a while, I have no idea what caused them, and I’ve been too afraid to remove them so I haven’t tried anything yet. Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this? I think they are grease stains but I’m not sure.

It’s the storm sweater by petiteknit, made with drops Lima in the color goldenrod.

Increasing stitches help

Hello, I am fairly new to knitting and after making a few beanies I am attempting to knit a sweater in the round. I have just finished the neck band and the pattern has asked to begin increasing stitches for the neckline. I am going from 68 stitches to 100 stitches. I understand how to increase but from what I understand the pattern only uses 36 of the original 68 stitches when increasing, what do I do with the remaining stitches in the row?

I am using the pine pullover pattern from knitting.tany.kim

Need some encouragement please. Frogging my sleeves for the third time!

Arrgghhh, I've been working on a cardigan on and off for the past 8 months (I'm a slow knitter). I finished the sleeves and they were too wide, so frogged them, then they were too tight, so frogged them again, now just finished them for the third time, thought I was happy and tried it on and they look like ridiculous balloons on my arms! So guess what... got to frog again! Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed making this cardigan and people keep telling me just to go with the flow but I want to make something I am super happy with! To make matters worse, this is technically my practice cardigan! I have some red yarn I love that I want to use to make a cardigan after this current one, if I ever finish it at this rate... I want my sleeves to be more tapered so got to figure that out and trying not to feel too defeated. Anyway, thank you for reading my rant!

Knitting for stillbirths

I love knitting baby gifts for my friends. I’ve had multiple friends recently who have had stillbirths and I’d love to make something for them but I’m not sure what. I used to do sweaters for baby gifts, but I switched to bonnets to be quicker, so I’m not starting as far in advance and I don’t have a project already going. If I had already started something I think I would finish the gift and then give it to them like I had planned originally, but I don’t know if it feels unkind to start a baby gift for a baby that they won’t have to hold. But it also feels unkind to not make them a baby gift just because their baby didn’t live long enough to wear it. I’d love to hear what other people have done, or from anyone who has had a stillbirth themselves and what you would like, though I’m sure it depends on the person. Thank you ❤️

Excess Knitting Needles

Sorry if this a duplicate. I can’t figure out if I successfully posted just now (and will delete if I have.)

I am in charge of the knitting group in the senior community where I live. When knitters pass away their families often donate their stashes and supplies. As you might guess, we have a pretty constant turnover lol.

I can usually find a home for the yarns, but I am absolutely swimming in knitting needles. I’m stumped as to what to do with them. I’ll donate them to Goodwill but before I do, does anyone have any ideas? I’d love some ideas for crafts? I guess? or projects? that would let me reuse/rethink/upcycle them. If the picture doesn’t load my needles fill a pasta pot and a she box. And that’s not all of them!

Finished my second Paul Sweater!

This is the second time I’ve knitted up the Paul Sweater, I’m a big fan of the pattern, I paired an alpaca blend with suri and it is the softest thing I own! I’m obsessed with suri now.

Pattern is the Paul Sweater by Moreca knits. Yarn is alpaca/wool blend by Estelle in a fingering weight and a silk suri blend by Fibrani in lace weight.
