I try to make a Cleveland sports "thing" every year or so, and this is what I made for this year. (Some of you may remember the Guardians jacket I made last year or the Cavs cardigan from a few years back.) This hat is hand knit and the patch is hand embroidered. It probably took more than 25 hours total to make, but I like how it turned out!

Yarn: Purl Soho Linen Quill

No pattern, but I left notes on my Ravelry project in case anyone wants to make their own.

I technically made this hat back in January, but I never got around to making the patch until a couple weeks ago. The photos don't show it, but it's fully reversible with tan/gold on the inside. I thought it might be cool to have a different patch on both sides, but I find embroidery to be a miserable experience, so after I finished one patch I decided that the other side could remain patch-less. I think it'll get a lot more use than it would if both sides were team-affiliated. Because of the layers, the shape of the patch doesn't show through at all when it's flipped to the other side! I found this yarn/needle combo (US 2) to make the perfect fabric for a hat like this where you have four layers around the brim. It's thin enough that it's not overly hot, but still really warm, while also having plenty of stretch to accommodate four layers. I already have yarn waiting for another for me and one for my wife!

Yarn: Purl Soho Daily Wool Sport (blue) & Malabrigo Arroyo (pink)

No pattern for this one, just some rambling notes on the Ravelry project that explain the process, and I included the charts I made for the body, sleeves and hood. This is year four of knitting birthday sweaters for my wife and daughters. My younger daughter wanted a hoodie and mentioned several times that she loved this pink yarn that I had left over from her sister's sweater from a few years back, but other than that I had creative control over this one. I had just over a skein of the pink yarn, so my solution was to use it as a contrasting color, and I love how it turned out! I made a hoodie for myself a few years back, so I was able to use some of what I did with that one, plus a few new ideas that I detailed in the notes, but please let me know if you have any questions on anything I did!
