Something is wrong with my star toe

Trying to knit toe-up socks for the first time. I started out using knitgrammer’s star toe pattern with Judy’s magical cast on. After starting over 12 times, I finally felt like I was making some progress… but now I see there are these holes - I think at the yarn over increases? I’m assuming this isn’t right so I’ll need to frog and start over :( Any tips for making this work better next time??

This is the pattern - https://www.knitgrammer.com/blog/star-toe-pattern-for-toe-up-socks/

Finished my first socks!! What’s next?

I think it’s interesting how much better the 2nd sock (on the left) is than the first, it even looks smaller despite using the same pattern/yarn/needles! I was much more cognizant of my tension, was especially careful with the purls on my heel flap, and watched some videos and tried a new method for picking up stitches for the gusset - using a crochet hook, which I found much easier and neater.

I bought some sock yarn (self-striping, I think) and am excited to keep going! But am overwhelmed at the options to try - toe-up? Two at a time? A different pattern? I’m curious about the fish lip heel…

Help finding seller for Italian yarn - or a dupe??

I’m planning on crocheting a top and the pattern recommends the Filati Venezia Selene yarn, details are:
70% Merino Wool · 20% Silk · 10% Linen
Fingering / 3-4 ply
I found it on YarnAtelier.co.uk but shipping to the US doubles the price! Does anyone have suggestions for either another seller that has lower shipping costs, or a similar yarn I could sub in? I can’t find anything with the same blend in my regular searches.
I’m looking to make a drapey crocheted tee. I’m wary of using cotton bc I’ve heard it stretches out a lot, but maybe a blend is ok?

Needle size for sock yarn

I’m a newish knitter and just bought some sock yarn, but it doesn’t specify needle size. I know I’ll need something small - the smallest I have now is 3.25mm which I guess is too big. I don’t want to buy a million needles and am not yet ready to commit the cost of an adjustable set. What needle size should I buy that is likely a safe bet? I think my knitting is on the loose side, if that matters.
The yarn is luminous Brooklyn solar sock yarn in the color pink lemonade

Looking for a light, airy blanket pattern and yarn recs

My daughter requested that I make her a light blanket - something to put over her in the summer but doesn’t add a lot of heat or weight. Any recs for nice patterns as well as the best yarn options? I assume dk weight? I also want to avoid anything that takes forever to make or costs a ton in yarn since this is for a 5yr old without a ton of patience :)
Thank you!

Can you help me learn from my first sock??

Just finished my first sock! I’m pretty proud that I managed to create something that is definitively sock-shaped, but I know I still have a lot to learn. Overall my tension needs more consistency, and I was majorly rowing out on the heel flap (3rd pic). There’s a small hole on each side (circled in blue in pics 1&2) - is that where I tried to pick my stitches back up? How do I avoid that? I’m also generally not sure if I did the heel correctly - there’s a line of stitches sticking up on the WS (blue arrow in the 4th pic).

As I get ready to start on the pair for this sock, what should I be working on the improve??

FYI this is the tin can rye sock (worked in stockinette, without the garter panel on the front), in cascade 220 superwash in the color iridescence.

Am I knitting totally wrong? My WS is on the outside!

I just came across another post that said that, when you knit in the round, the RS is on the outside; they linked to a blog post that said the same. But I’ve been knitting with the WS on the outside! Am I knitting totally wrong? I‘ve only been knitting a few months so it’s definitely possible! The pic is of my first sock that I’m almost done with - it’s all in stockinette and the RS (smoother side) is on the inside while I’m knitting, the bumpy WS is on the outside. Is this something I need to change? I’m not even sure how…

Help adjusting the top edge of a tank top pattern (like the blue version)

I’ve been crocheting amigurumi for a few years and now trying my first wearable - a tank top for my 5yr old daughter! I’m adapting the Summer Breeze tank from ravelry (link below). For the top/chest panel, I switched it to a moss/linen stitch to make it more opaque. But in the pattern it is crocheted as just a rectangle that you add straps to (like the purple and pink versions in the picture). However in one of the project pictures (blue/yellow version on the left), the top curves up at the straps and then back down. How could I adjust the pattern to get that look, rather than just a straight rectangle? Will it work with the moss stitch?

First worsted weight sock pattern rec?

I was all set to knit my first sock using crazy sock lady’s dk weight vanilla sock pattern. But the yarn I bought (Cascade 220 superwash) seems to be on the thicker side and more like worsted weight - I just can’t get the right gauge. Is there a beginner-friendly worsted weight sock pattern I can try instead? And bonus if it’s free!

Everywhere I look recommends the tin can knits rye sock but I really don’t like the look of the garter stitch on the front. Any other suggestions (or an easy modification for that part)?

Finished my first hat! Now what??

I just finished my first hat! Is it the most beautiful, perfect hat ever created? No. But I’m still very proud! Previously I only knit a simple headband for my daughter. This hat took about a month and taught me knitting in the round, traveling/magic loop, decreases, a folded brim, and a (sort-of) jogless stripe. FYI it’s the steady stockinette hat (free on ravelry), the mustard yarn is from sienna yarns and then I bought the greyish-blue one from a yarn store when I realized the mustard was running low and didn’t want to play a losing game of yarn chicken.

What should I do next?? My goal is to knit myself a sweater by the end of the year. But maybe something smaller first? I’m thinking of trying socks to learn some new skills. But should I keep working with a magic loop or try out DPNs??

Any suggestions for keeping up this momentum and making something satisfying would be appreciated!

Is this a dropped stitch? Or something else?

I’m a fairly new knitter but have finally (after starting over 6 times!) been making progress on my first hat! And then I made the mistake of trying to knit while I was chatting with my kid and it looks like something went wrong here. Is this a dropped stitch or something else? Can I fix it at this point or do I need to go back or forward a bit?

Any tips for fixing are appreciated. I’ll also check the links in the FAQ but just wanted to make sure I diagnose the problem correctly.
