Baton: KEF Connect done right
I love my LS60 & KC62. The KEF Connect app – not so much. So I made my own: Baton. :-)
In a nutshell:
Scenes
Radio stations, playlists, volume/source settings – basically anything involving your KEFs in one click. User configurable, iCloud-synced. All scenes can call webhooks for on/off + URL after executing (Home Cinema wakes the Apple TV, sets the KEFs to HDMI/Vol48 and opens the iOS remote control screen.
Now Playing
Full featured Now Playing screen, with scrubber, audio format, metadata, track controls and the hero of the app: a fine-grained, haptic volume control. As KEF cut all metadata strings to 63 chars max (thanks!), I enrich the metadata with Spotify's fuller set and built in some logic detecting classical movements. Track name, artists and album are all hyperlinked to the Spotify app. Shows on you Lock Screen (and thus your watch) with art, metadata and track controls.
Browse
Full browsing tree (Radio, logged in streaming services, uPNP servers) directly from your KEFs. Favorites for Radio, usable in Scenes.
Speaker
Quick Access to Sources, EQ profiles and Volume Presets. Full EQ editor, with sync for new profiles. Full speaker settings.
App Settings
Create your own scenes, set presets, etc.
Anyways – just testing the waters here. If there's any interest, I can look into releasing (must strip a few personal customizations, but nothing too complicated). I deliberately stayed away from onboarding, streaming service authentication and firmware update – that's in KEFs ballpark. EQ profiles live in KEFs cloud, but Baton can read, change, store, create and sync them. For music while working, I created a menu bar panel app for macOS to match. One click = full control. :-)
