I had a swab done..

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with exfoliative cheilitis (EC) and recently had a swab done on my lips.

I also saw a dermatologist at the hospital, and he basically confirmed that, yes, it looks like EC. However, he said that there needs to be a cause/root cause behind it and that apparently everyone has some underlying reason why they develop it.

After the swab, my GP told me that Candida parapsilosis was found on my lips. However, she also said that this can be commonly found on the lips and that, for now, nothing needs to be done about it.

Honestly, I’m a bit confused because I don’t really know what Candida parapsilosis is, whether it can actually contribute to EC, or whether finding it on a swab is basically meaningless because it can just be part of the normal flora.

Has anyone with EC had a similar swab result?

Has anyone actually improved their EC through better sleep or gut health?

I’ve seen a lot of discussion around topical treatments, lip picking, fungal/bacterial causes, etc., but I’m curious about two things specifically:

Consistent, high-quality sleep
Not just sleeping more, but going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time every day. Did anyone notice reduced peeling, inflammation, crusting, or faster healing after improving sleep habits?

Gut health / microbiome changes
Has anyone seen improvement after working on their gut health? Things like:

Eliminating foods you were allergic or sensitive to

Treating digestive issues

Improving diet quality

Taking probiotics or other microbiome-focused approaches

If so:

What changes did you make?

How long did it take before you noticed a difference?

Was the improvement minor or significant?

I’m trying to figure out whether these factors genuinely helped people with EC or if they’re mostly theories that get repeated online.

Would love to hear real experiences, positive or negative.

I’ve been having this issue for 7 years:

My mother wants to comb it away, but I don’t want to lose any eyebrow hairs. What can I do to get rid of all of this? I’ve reintroduced grains into my diet and started flaring up again. I just need a product that actually clears it up so it doesn’t show, because it doesn’t look very good.

What would you guys recommend me to do?

So I got my sister a new bag..

I got my sister a new bag and wanted to check if I made a decent choice.

She’s fine with carrying more expensive bags if the price makes sense for the quality, but she definitely cares about craftsmanship and how well it holds up. I did a fair bit of research before buying, but bags really aren’t my thing.

Did I pick something solid, or is there anything I probably overlooked?
