I'm 99% sure that if you are eligible for a bonus upon reenlist in a tax free zone, your bonus is also tax free. Is this written anywhere in formal guidance or policy?
Can someone provide me with a document that discussed how reenlistment bonuses are handled if the member is currently at a tax free duty location?
I'm hoping someone can help me out. I believe that if you reenlist and are eligible for a bonus, if you perform that reenlist in a tax free deployment area, your bonus is also tax free. Can someone provide me formal guidance to back this up?
Also what happens if the bonus is dispersed over several years?
