MCX Estimated Production Numbers
The MCX has been in commercial use for roughly 11.5 years and I was curious roughly how many SIG has produced but, SIG doesn't publish production numbers for individual platforms/models so I compiled as much data as I could and fed it into Gemini.
I find many of these numbers believable because I've heard the same estimates from people who work for SIG--specifically regarding the Legacy and Gen 1.5.
This is what Gemini gave me:
This is really interesting data because on the high-end of the production estimate we're only talking about a quarter of a million units over 11.5 years. True, mass-market guns sell 10s of millions of units such as the Ruger 870, Marlin Model 60 and Ruger 10/22. Sure they've had way more time on the market but, for the 870 to have 12-15 million sales since 1950 that requires selling 155k-200k of them EVERY year.
The other thing I find interesting about this estimate are the totals on Legacy, Gen 1.5, Original Rattler and Regulator. The limited quantities make these collector guns--especially the 1.5 and Regulator. The Regulator may be one of the smallest batch commercial firearm runs SIG has ever done. Those lowers might not be worth much now but, give it a few years--people will want them.
