Update on lanetrax android (we're hiring a swe)

Hey guys, I’ve seen a few comments on r/bowling recently saying that lanetrax has given up on android, so I just wanted to clear that up.

We definitely haven’t. Android is in development right now.

I also want to be transparent about why it’s taken so long. I’m still a solo founder, so on top of being the main developer behind LaneTrax, I’m also handling a lot of the business, marketing, support, and everything else that comes with running the company.

I know I’ve been saying android is coming soon for a while, so I completely understand why people have started wondering if it was ever actually going to happen (trust me it will!)

At this point, I think it makes sense to bring another developer on full time to help get android across the finish line and continue building lanetrax with me.

We’re looking for someone with a strong software engineering background, especially around swift/swiftUI, android/jetpack compose, and ml. I’d love to find someone from the bowling community who already understands the sport and what we’re trying to build. More details about the role are here:

Appreciate everyone who’s been waiting for Android. It is coming. Feel free to drop anything in the comments here too -- happy to chat!

I rebuilt LaneTrax, so I’m giving everyone 100 free shots to try it!

Hey guys, just wanted to thank everyone in r/bowling who has tried LaneTrax, given feedback, joined the beta, or even just called out the stuff that wasn’t working well.

LaneTrax 2.0 drops this Friday, June 5th, and this update is a full rebuild of the tracking experience.

A lot of the feedback on the current version was fair. When LaneTrax worked, it was great, but getting the phone lined up, zoomed correctly, and stable was way harder than it should’ve been.

So for the past 6 months, I’ve been working on making setup easier and tracking much more reliable.

The biggest change is that setup is now guided and automatic. LaneTrax tells you how to move your tripod into the right spot, then handles lane detection, zoom, and alignment automatically. It also adjusts for small tripod wobbles, vibrations, or bumps, so you don’t have to keep messing with your phone mid-session.

All of this makes tracking 12x more accurate than before.

Since I know some people here had a rough first experience, everyone who updates during June will get 100 free shots, even if you already used your trial shots or subscribed before.

I really do love this sub, so as a small thank you, I set up a code just for Reddit, REDDITV2, which gives you guys half off your first month of LaneTrax once you use the 100 shots.

And for Android users, now that 2.0 is wrapped up, Android is the next big focus, with the 2.0 features planned for launch! (You can join the android waitlist at lanetrax.app )

If you have questions, feedback, or want to roast something that still needs work, feel free to comment here or join the discord. I’m always happy to talk.
