WIP Wednesday on Thursday

Here is my current WIP! Forgot to post last night. I’m gonna make it into a door hang for Halloween! Only thing I don’t like is the purple done with perle cotton DMC. My LNS (where the workers can sometimes be prickly and not accepting of beginners) always force me to use some sort of DMC when I kit projects there so i just said okay even though I hate how it looks. It looks better in different lighting this picture makes it look bad :(

BUT YEAH I LOVE SNOOPY!!

Here is what I ordered:

ofc I will post when I finally get them, but just wanted to share my excitement & lean into small things that bring me joy rather than feeling guilty about it

Help with canvas decisions

Hi everyone! I’m looking to start this Rome stamp canvas, and I can’t decide whether to do all basketweave, or incorporate decorative stitches? It’s an 8x 8 canvas, with the image being smaller, if that gives any perspective. What do you think?

Also, I am a newer needle pointer and am debating over purchasing and using stretcher bars for this. I normally stitch in hand, and haven’t had many tension issues with that. But I would love for this to look nice for when I eventually frame it. However, I’m leaning towards no bars.

Thanks for the help!

All stitches look twisted and weird with Silk and Ivory, 13 mesh, basketweave — help!

Hi everyone!

I’m stitching up this canvas as a gift to my mom, and I can’t help but notice that even with stitching slowly, working to not split stitches, AND letting the thread untwist by letting the needle hang after every few stitches, the stitches still look off!!

What am I doing wrong? :( Or is it just the thread?

Will I have to use a snag nab it on basically every stitch now? :(

Rip out stitches in the middle, or keep?

Basically, am I being too harsh, or should I rip out the blue stitches in between the legs of Olivia design? It seems messy to me bc the ribbon isn’t laying perfectly. But I also don’t reallyyyyy feel like ripping them out. Is it that sloppy? What would you do?

Anchoring issues — improvement?

Hi there! I have posted on here before, and most recently I have improved my basketweave — thank you all!

Now, I took some tips on securing/anchoring thread for both starting and ending my thread. I learned NOT to do it diagonally in basketweave.

Here, I tried to do it vertically and horizontally. Does it seem better, less lumpy? Attached are photos.

Thank you :)
