Terrible streaming quality on tvOS 27

Terrible streaming quality on tvOS 27

I noticed that my streaming quality looked horrible and pulled up the HUD stats, and sure enough a 4k Dolby Vision Netflix movie was playing back in 720p at low bitrate.

My appletv appears stuck in 720p as I saw similar data in the Fox One app watching 4k soccer. I have the typical settings set (4k60 SDR, match content/framerate as yes, 4:2:0). Wired ethernet on gigabit internet. TV is an LG G4 through an RZ50 receiver. The appletv replaced a nvidia shield pro that had super sharp streaming playback.

Has anyone seen anything similar? Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot?

EDIT: further troubleshooting - I did a 'reset video settings' and things worked for a bit. I saw 4k as the 'natural-size' and DolbyVision5 in the video format. However, once I launched the Fox Sports One app, it got stuck back in this unhealthy state. Resetting video settings again did not resolve it.

Heat pump issues with soft start kit

I have three Carrier heat pumps (2x GH7TAN44800A, 1xGH7TAN43600A). All 2-3 years old. All have micro-air flex soft start kits installed. One of the units (the 43600), which has been running fine for months has started exhibiting these issues:

  • The heat pump will run fine for hours, and even days.
  • Eventually, the heat pump will stop working, the fan will spin slowly, and the micro-air will report a wiring fault.
  • Turning the machine off, waiting a little bit, and turning it back on fixes it
  • I have graphed the data from bluetooth and the 'live current' field looks different on this unit than my other 2 micro-air units. Instead of live current being flat, the live current rises on an upwards slope until it shuts off. Picture below of good and bad behavior

bad -- failing unit

good -- normal unit

I have replaced the soft start unit on the bad unit and the issues came back. My hvac tech is still blaming the soft start unit.

Thoughts on what might be going on and what the hvac tech should test? Since it can run for hours fine, it seems hard to have him here when it actually fails. To me, it seems like it has to be some kind of over-heating or over-pressuring where the soft-start is actually preventing something worse from happening.
