Beginners hiking in the Lake District - advice for helvellyn striding ridge please

currently staying in the lake district and wanted to do a bit of hiking while i’m here. i haven’t hiked mountains before but striding ridge looks lovely, do you think it would be viable for me to do it as a first hike?
i often walk through the fields from my house to the shops (30mins) so feel as though i’ve got really decent base fitness level.
since i also only have trainers was wondering if they would be suitable? Can’t really afford hiking boots right now.
thank you for any advice :)

Pub managers cutting hours at late notice without notifying anyone

The employee promise is that we get shifts 3 weeks in advance and any changes are agreed on, but in my pub almost all associates are having their hours cut after the rotas are published, often just a couple of hours before the shift was due to start. Several team leaders have had their shifts cancelled whilst on the way to work and all associates and team leaders are in a position where we know a 40 hour work week rota will end up becoming a 30 hour week at the last minut, without anyone being consulted, just a notification on myjdw saying our rota is changed. Anyone else going through this?
