what could my cat's salt-and-pepper coat indicate?
this is venus! she's a sweet and quirky 2 year old shelter kitty and obviously very unique looking. her face, legs, and tail are a stark black, while the rest of her is this funky salt and pepper color. her undercoat is very light grey, basically white, which you can see pretty clearly when she's flopped on her back. i've never seen another cat in my life who has a coat like hers!
i've been wondering for a while if her markings could indicate some siamese or burmese genetic influences, or maybe a fever coat, or maybe something else. i adopted her from a shelter who found her on the street as a kitten and marked her breed as domestic shorthair, so she really could be absolutely anything.
anyone ever seen a cat with a coat like hers before? anyone have any ideas about her genetic makeup? i'm so curious!
