BL question for BL and HT SMs about vacation hours

Can you cash out your vacation without going into overtime? What I mean is. Could I work 40 hours in a week but choose to use 8 hours of vacation on one of my days off in the same week. Does it put me at 48 hours that week and in overtime or does vacation hours count as it's own thing?

BL - Manager preferences that are not policy / standards

Hello, I need some advice and insight before I have a conversation with my manager so I know if I have any points with any weight to present to them. I don't want to waste their time.

I have an SM who has many many preferences for how they want things done and I have researched into them to see if they are preferences or policy. This SM stresses me out so much because they won't tell me these preferences so when I do something they tell me I didn't do it the way that they like until afterward. I never get told good job and all feedback I get is literally this is wrong this is wrong, etc etc.

My question is, are SMs allowed to force you to do things by their preference even if it is not a company wide standard or policy? I understand if a manager asks me to do something against policy I am allowed to say "no" but am I allowed to say, "that is not a policy so I would like to do that my way".

Fake (purposefully silly) example. Lets say when they ask me to clean the bathroom I clean the sink first and then the toilet but then they come up to me and say, "why did you clean the sink first" and I reply, "It's easier for me to do it that way" and they say, "that isn't how I want you to do it I want you to do the sink first"

Even with the smallest things where it is easier for me to do something in a way that is not against policy they watch my every move to make sure I am doing it the exact specific way that they want.

What can I do? I feel so stressed and like a failure but am I allowed to say "no" to their preferences that are not policy / standards?
