I’m going to be NYC for the next couple of weeks with my husband and little one. It’s forecasted to be overcast and in the mid 60s-mid 70s (degrees F) for much of the time we will be there. I’ve only been to NYC in the summer before in the past, and remembered it was really humid. Not sure how much people feel humidity during the fall?

If any of you are in NYC, are there lots of microclimates within the city? In San Francisco, temperatures can vary a lot (20 or so degrees) for us pending on the neighborhood you’re in, but I think it’s because it’s so hilly which creates lots of microclimates, so then we need to pack layers when we go out for a day. Not sure if it’s similar in New York? Also it’s my understanding that attire is way more casual in SF than in NYC.

Looking for outfit ideas that will look decent and be practical for being out & about in NYC with a young child!

My closet feels like a haphazard mix of two different people. Some days I wear lighter colors/more preppy styling (usually if it’s warm out) but I used to be a goth in my younger days and I like having a little more edge, at heart. I feel lost fashion-wise after my body changed a ton after having a baby and over the last year have been replacing my clothing with items that fit my “new” body.

I’m trying to think of outfits that are practical but also express a little artistic/edgy flare while still working for every day life with a little one. I’m not the most creative and eventually want to get my closet to the point where there is a clearer vision and where it’s easy to mix & match items. I have no idea how to create outfits with both light & dark items (they feel imbalanced to me when I try) but want to try to use a mix of both, if possible(?).

In the meantime, ANY outfit ideas would be greatly appreciated! Would love to see what ya’ll come up with since you will be looking at my closet with fresh eyes.
