How do Cthulhu pickups sound clean?

I'm looking at ordering an R2 DE, which would be my first Dunable, and I can't find any nearby to try out. They obviously sound great for metal, but I'm wondering how these pickups sound with moderate overdrive or especially clean. (My band plays about half and half.) I'm coming from the strat/tele world and looking for something meatier, but also not thin/tinny when it's not cranked to 11.

Futura RD vs Firebird

Been waiting months for the Futura RD and Firebird to be available in midnight ember shift colors. Is there any guess as to when they'll be available in the US?

And they seem to have the same hardware, but how differently do they play? This would be my first non-Fender electric. (I'm a strat + tele guy looking for something heavier.) I'm considering ordering 1 of each to Guitar Center and returning the one I don't like.
