Telecaster Wiring Help

I’ve made this telecaster from scratch the wiring part. When I put the multimeter on the sleeve of the output and on the cable tip when it’s in, I get no feedback. I had a messy soldering job before and I redid that and I am pretty sure I did everything correctly. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

What to do with vintage Dimarzio PAFs?

I replaced these 70's Dimarzio pickups in my Greco LP copy with a set of Burstbuckers that sound great.

However, I'm wondering what/if anything can be done to salvage these. There was no output on the multimeter. I believe the wire is damaged in both. What I should do with them? As you can see, that are very well worn; rust on the metal, and the bobbins are cracked. Can they be salvaged? Should I take them to a luthier? Should I contact Dimarzio? Should I just trash them? Two new paperweights? What would you do?

Best Way to Sell a Guitar in 2026?

Apologies if this isn’t the right thread for this…

Curious to know what the best way is to sell guitars nowadays. I have a few guitars and some gear that I’m looking to part with basically because life has gone a new route with marriage, house building and career. Not as much time to play, and too many instruments that deserve better than to be sitting in a case for months at a time.

I’m aware of Reverb and I’ve sold on eBay before, but I would really prefer not to go those routes with the seller fees.

My local FB marketplace is very oversaturated with guitars, and when I do get a message it is either a scam or a lowball offer.

Are there specific Facebook groups that I’m not aware of for selling? Or even a Reddit page?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

String gauge question

Hi, this is my first post here and I just have a question.

I play in standard tuning using Ernie ball Beefy Slinky strings (gauges 11-15-22p-30-42-54). What string gauge should I use to maintain that same tension on a 25.5-inch scale guitar when tuned to D#, D and C standard?

I am selling my 7 string Ghost

Unfortunately I have to downsize and am selling some of my higher end guitars. One of my Legators unfortunately have to go. I am curious what everyone’s thoughts are on these guitars. I personally love them. Legator and Ormsby are my two top brands. I only have one Ormsby so I’m not coming off of that one. So what are everyone’s thoughts on these guitars? I am pricing it around 900$

Wiring help with telecaster

this is my first time building a telecaster and I’ve done everything from scratch. I’m up to the part where I’m wiring the telecaster and I’ve tried to do everything correct but it came out wrong. When I plug it in, there’s no sound and I checked the output jack and I checked if anything interfered and I don’t see no problem. I understand my soldering looks messy, but that’s because it’s my first time doing so. I tried to take some off, but that just simply doesn’t work. can someone please try to help me?

Acoustic neck strap peg stripped

I bought a used Taylor acoustic online and am very happy with the sound, but the neck peg where a strap can connect just completely fell out. The screw stripped the hole and can’t be retightened.

I am reading online about using toothpicks and wood glue. To fill the hole with these to give the screw something to grab.

I don’t plan to sell this instrument any time, so I don’t care what this would do to the resale value. I would love advice about how to proceed and basically just care about a successful outcome.

Thanks!

Finding the best guitar pick for a gift.

Hii, so me and my bf's anniversary is coming up (13th of july) and I still haven't gotten him his gift (sorry if my english is bad, its not my first language and im in a bit of a hurry here). I don't understand much of guitars but I remembered that in one of our dates he mentioned he wanted some specific guitar picks, which, i unfortunately forgot! So I texted one of his friends and he told me that my bf usually goes for the 0.73mm ones with the sharper edges. I dont recall if those were the ones he wanted. I dont know if it's useful for you to know but he usually plays a lot of Avenged Senfold and sometimes SOAD (among others) and so maybe you could help me out pick the perfect gift for him. We're located in Portugal so maybe there isn't much stuff as there is out there, but please help me find this for him - either the best 0.73mm ones or the ones you think are best. I'm also getting him a Gaerea CD! Thanks!

Takamine neck setting

Does this look OK? It seems the neck is set deeper to the bridge. I just noticed this and cannot unsee it. Would this affect scale and intonation?

Does anyone know where Electric Guitars come from?

I was sitting there thinking to myself when I realized I don't actually know where electric guitars come from. Does anyone here know? It's really quite strange when you think about it. Just doesnt make sense, and why the hell does an electric guitar not electrocute you when you use it???

Did i get scammed?

I have a yamaha acoustic guitar, it’s right handed
I went to this guitar shop and asked them to change the nut only ( i thought there’s no way i can turn it into left handed)
But they told me (we can make it left handed)
I was like this is possible? They said yeah sure
They replaced the nut and the bridge but it doesn’t sound right to me

Having trouble selling this guitar

I am big into headless guitars. Out of the 25 guitars I own 6 are headless. I am unfortunately forced to thin out my collection and have had my NK posted for quite some time. All my other guitars with headstocks get sold or at least people inquire but for some reason I never even get a bite on my NK. To be honest this guitar is a beast. I swapped out the original Artec bridge pup with a Dimarzio D Activator or whichever way it is. lol. It really wasn’t necessary since the Artec pickups are actually pretty good. Either way I’m starting to wonder if I’m the only person who likes headless guitars. Let me know your opinion on these.

Ebay Scammed

bought a 1997 Gibson SG special from 148edthehead and description said no issues

guitar arrives and the neck is super bowed, no buggy; take it to the luthier.

It sits with him for over a month and I go to collect it and I’m informed the neck is warped, and even with a fret level, it’s too warped to fix without taking the frets out and planing the board and then a regret which will cost in the region of £500

the Seller assured me that it was ‘professionally’ setup and had no issues but it was like a bow and arrow and then ignored me

basically it’s unfixable, ebay won’t help as it’s after the window but I had no idea until after the window

any suggestions please?

Loose input jack

I know there are plenty of tutorials online about tightening loose input jacks. However, I’m not sure they apply to my specific situation or hardware.

I have a new guitar which I plugged into an amp for the first time yesterday. I immediately noticed extreme looseness with the cable. It would move so much that the signal would cut in and out. I removed the backing plate to inspect the inside of the guitar body. I saw that the input jack is floating freely. Perhaps this is normal? I also removed the set screws for the outer jack plate, but it did not want to come free. I’m guessing that I need to free this mechanism to get at some kind of nut that maybe needs to be tightened? I didn’t want to force anything and damage the equipment.

I appreciate any guidance or suggestions.

Accientally bumped the headstock of my new Fender Player II and the action magically became perfect? How is this physically possible? Or should i worry?

Hey everyone,
I had a pretty weird (but awesome) experience today. I recently got a new Fender Player II. The action was okay, but a bit higher than I usually prefer.
Today, I accidentally bumped the headstock against my desk twice. It wasn't a hard crash, just two very light taps. Right after it happened, I noticed that my action had suddenly dropped significantly. It is now completely uniform across the neck, feels absolutely amazing to play, and amazingly, there is zero fret buzz anywhere.
I’m definitely not complaining about a free, perfect setup, but my brain is melting trying to figure out the physics behind this. How can a light tap on the headstock permanently lower the action without ruining the tuning or causing buzz?
Did the bolt-on neck just finally "seat" properly into the neck pocket due to the leverage? Or did some hidden tension in the truss rod release?
Has anyone else experienced their guitar literally fixing itself after a minor bump?

Adjusting electring guitar action

Hi, yesterday I tried to adjust the string action on my Stratocaster for the first time using a YouTube tutorial because I thought it was too high. First, I adjusted the neck using the truss rod, then I started lowering the saddles. But when I lowered them, almost every string started buzzing, so I set everything back to how it was before. Does that mean my action was already fine, or that it’s at the lowest possible setting on my guitar? At the 12th fret, I can fit a coin under the low E string is that too high?

Guitar wireless transmitter suddenly shuts off while I'm playing.

Hi 👋,

I'd like some help from those who have experience with these devices. It's a guitar wireless system I bought a few months ago on AliExpress. The problem is that while I'm playing, the transmitter plugged into my guitar turns itself off. I turn it back on, and after a while, it turns itself off again, without being discharged. I haven't been able to time it exactly, but it happens 15, 30, or 45 minutes after I turn it on. The receiver plugged into my pedalboard works fine. I've tried fully charging them, but it's still the same, and I've resigned myself to not using them for a while. But now I'm trying to find out if anyone has encountered this problem before and if they know how to fix it.

Thank you
