1lb olive loaf recipe 🤤

I was struggling to find a 1lb olive recipe that I liked the look of, so I just tweaked the ‘basic bread’ recipe that came with my machine!

In future I’d pick a medium crust and leave some bigger olive chunks in there, but overall this turned out SO good I could make this every day.

Highly recommend!

Ingredients and order:
1tsp dry yeast
250g strong white bread flour
15g unsalted butter
1tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
90ml olive brine from the jar
80ml water
Add in halfway through kneading:
70g chopped Kalamata olives (vary the size for nice texture!)
~10g chopped fresh rosemary

This is my second ever loaf so open to advice!
I’d like to try some more savoury breads with sun-dried tomatoes or jalapeño too

I gifted my bf a bread machine today - behold our first loaf!

We obsessively checked the timer for the 4 hours this took and we are SO happy with how it came out! I took advice from posts on here and got some good flour and yeast, and followed the recipe to a T.

We will now be living off of fresh bread for the foreseeable 🍞🥖🥯

Quick Q - I believe this is a 2lb loaf and the recipe called for 1tbsp sugar to be added. I personally think it’s too sweet for a plain white bread. Will removing or largely reducing the sugar affect the success of the bread??

Do you have any recipe recommendations we have to try now we have begun our bread journey? I’d love to try some seeded or fruit loaves and defo an olive loaf at some point!!

Best bread machines of 2026?? (on a budget)

I want to get a bread machine for my partners birthday but I don’t know where to start! There are so many ‘best bread machines’ articles I don’t trust them anymore - I want personal experiences!

For context, we’re a 2 person household and our counter space is limited to a relatively small machine. My budget is £100-120 or I guess around $150 dollars but I’m bad at maths. We’ll likely set it to come on overnight for fresh bread in the morning, so something not too loud would be ideal (but I get they’re always a bit noisy!)

Thanks in advance for your recs! :)

I’m cutting my trip short :( How to get a refund on my Eurostar seat reservation?

Hi, I’m cutting my 2 month trip 10 days short and I don’t want to waste the £30 I spent on my Eurostar seat reservation as I’m flying home now instead.

I can’t find a straight answer for how to get a refund 😭 or if it’s possible?

For info I booked via the Interrail app not directly either Eurostar. I booked after the refund changes on May 6th last year.

Thanks in advance :)

Looking for Vienna restaurant recommendations

Budget €250-300(hard max) for 2 people, ideally with some wine.
1 vegetarian
EF16 was our first choice but is closed for a holiday while we’re there :/

My partner and I are headed to Vienna in a couple of weeks and hoped to go to EF16 for a nice meal, but it’s closed while we’re there :/ Can anyone recommend a similar fine dining / upscale restaurant for us to try? I have seen a lot of talk about Steirereck, Apron, and Mraz and Son, but even with just the base menu these seem to come in over our budget.

Is our budget feasible? We have had a 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings in Copenhagen before for ~£300 so we figured it would be feasible here, especially with less wine!

Any recommendations appreciated:)

How far in advance to book hostels & train reservations??

I’m visiting 21 places throughout mostly Central Europe for 2 months mid June - mid August (I know it is hot, busy and expensive but this was my only availability!)

My initial plan was to book everything as I went along so I had a lot of freedom, but now I’m thinking I’ll miss out on good hostels and prices will go up the longer I leave it. How far in advance should I book? I don’t want to book everything, then have to cancel if my plans change even slightly - even if I pay the little extra for free cancellation.

Same goes for train reservations. Do these fill up? Should I book these well in advance or just the week before the trip?

Thanks!
