Another medical emergency, this time at Burrard

EDIT: CLEAR now, according to a rider, and Translink on formerly known as twitter. This is good news for all involved, I think?

I hope it's something manageable and that everyone is ok. Currently, 4 pm, no service Waterfront - Stadium/Chinatown.

Toolbag with tools, Quayside

I am pretty sure this was stolen and dumped - found scattered around a property on Quayside yesterday,

I have notified immediate neighbours. But if you think it might be yours, let me know with detailed description, otherwise I will turn in to the police.

Stolen goods on the train?

This guy shambled onto the skytrain at Metrotown today, dragging a huge black garbage bag, stuffed full of things. He sat down and then frantically started going through it. It was all women's athletic style shoes, with tags and security tags still on. They all looked like size 7s or 8s. He dumped them all over the seat and the floor, and started tearing tags off.

WTF.

I admit I hesitated. The train was about 70% full and everyone was looking away. I get it, he was big, and looked strung out. But... what the hell, you guys.

Do I text the cops?..... Sometimes it feels like more hassle than it's worth, right? We are afraid to get involved. But...I texted the cops. I got off some time later, earlier than I wanted to because I was starting to get freaked out, as he got more and more frantic. He started throwing things onto the floor, and something glass broke. It looked like he had boxes of perfume or something as well that he was peeling something off of.

I did what I could, by texting Transit police, and maybe, just maybe it was all above board, and someone gave him a bag full of brand new women's size 7 shoes with tags and security buttons still on, and various perfumes etc still in their packaging, I mean you never know, right? But wtf.

And everyone looked away. We do not know what to do in these situations, so the average soul does nothing. Sometimes it's not worth it to get involved. There are certain risks, it's time consuming, etc.... The average person says, what are we supposed to do? And Translink says, "If you see something, say something."

I'm very grateful he didn't appear to have a weapon of any kind, didn't engage with anyone, and kept his agitated self to himself more or less, but you know what, that was a bit scary.

Be careful out there!

Slow Cooker did not cook beans!

I put a pot of black beans on with stock, aromatics etc and maybe too much stock? This is a 4 quart manual, and in the past I've had trouble with it being too hot. I soaked the beans overnight. After 8 hrs on high, the beans were NOT cooked! I'm honestly surprised. I transferred them to a pot on the stove, but I'm really disappointed. There's no meat in the dish and I brought it to a rolling boil, it was hot but barely a simmer in the crock pot.

I surmise that I had too much liquid in it. I've not tried an uncooked beans dish in this CrockPot before (it's one of the trademarked ones). Anyone else had this happen?

It's safe to eat, right? I did bring it to a boil and it's now bubbling away on the stove. What a drag.
