I honestly don’t know if I’m overreacting or if this situation is actually as bad as it feels, but I’m freaking out about my dog’s travel situation with KLM cargo/pet transport right now.

She flew out of Korea on Thursday and was supposed to continue on Friday to Atlanta (ATL). However, apparently ATL customs does NOT process live animal imports after hours, on weekends, or holidays. Because of that, my dog now has to stay in the animal hotel/facility for FOUR DAYS until Monday night before she can even continue flying.

And then it gets worse. after arriving, she still has to stay at another facility until Tuesday morning before I can finally get her.

What’s upsetting me most is that KLM booked the itinerary this way in the first place and apparently never informed my pet shipper that this would happen. We were under the impression she’d only have a short layover before continuing on. It’s under my assumption as well that the US broker side of this ordeal also knew there would be an issue and didn’t say anything until it was too late and I kept asking when can pick up be once she arrives in ATL. no information was relayed that there could be issues.

She has already traveled all the way from Korea and now she’s stuck in facilities for days. I cannot sleep because I’m so worried about how stressed, confused, and scared she must be. She’s never been away from me like this before.

Has anyone here had pets held at the KLM animal hotel for multiple days? Were they actually cared for properly? Did your pets come out okay emotionally/physically? I’m desperate for reassurance right now because my anxiety is through the roof.

I think the worst part is I have no updates on her now.
