Waiting on my neighbor, hawthorn tree

Fruits have been a bit off this year in my local area. Climate shifts caused many species to bloom early then get hit hard by late freeze. Some species didn't produce any viable fruit at all this year like Oso Berry.

But my neighbor Hawthorne tree has been coming along slowly. I've seen others in the valley loaded with ripe delicious fruit. But my neighbor must have gotten more of that freeze damage cause they are still mostly green.

But they are coming along, soon I'll have a nice harvest to blend with the leaves for stronger fruity flavors.

How many other people forage for ingredients?

Got some crabapples today, tart and fruity. What to mix it with?

I gathered some fresh crab apples today the size of small grapes they are tart and fruity like a sour grape. I plan to dry them out but I'm not sure what to blend them with. Anyone have thoughts?

Are people interested in info about foraging native plants? (US - PNW)

My major source for tea blending is native foraged plants. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to share info about what I forage.

[WIP] I think I fixed my brew today.

I was struggling today with a mix of:

4 lrg scoops of doug fir needles

3 mounded scoops of dried fruit

2 scoops of apple blossom

The flavors developed very slowly but when the for began to get bitter the fruit hadn't infused enough so it got more bitter and astringent. I added some honey and got a little relief but the flavor wasn't balanced. It was bitter or it was overpowered by the honey.

I added:

2 scoops of chamomile

And wow! The mellow floral formed a great mild base that smoothed out the sharp flavors while still holding their notes. I'm thinking of cold steeping overnight to get a fuller expression of the overall flavor.

Most recent success

A blend of dried berries from my forage and CSA box (Sala, Serviceberry, Blueberry, Lingonberry) with serviceberry leaves and Doug Fir.

It was best cold steeped overnight and served iced without sweetener. Mostly a sweet berry flavor with a hint of fir. Made for a very refreshing drink.

But it felt pretty heavily dependant on purchased berries and didn't quite feel like my own creation.

Update: I upped the fir and got more flavor but it grew bitter and dry before the berries got infused. So I added chamomile and it smoothed out the flavors and brought it into balance.

I made a sub for people who specifically want a community about trying to make their own blends of tea. r/AmateurTeaBlends come join!

I found a bunch of old comments on a years old post looking for a place to talk about learning to blend your own tea and everyone said there's no where to go why don't we make a community. But it didn't look like anyone ever did and new comments kept showing up saying "I'd join that!" So I did it come by and check it out!

Hi I am Grey I like to forage in the pacific northwest and make tea from native plants. Though I am still figuring it out and looking for tips.

I am a biologist and work outdoors in the pacific northwest. I have been foraging as a hobby with my plant ID skills for the last few years and trying to make teas with what I harvest.

Berries, conifers, leaves of fruiting plants there is a lot out there that is palatable but the flavors are complex, bitter or faint and I am struggling to find success.

I have held off on mixing my forage with store bought tea leaves though I'm starting to think I may need to shift to this approach to build from a stable base of flavor.

I'd love to share what I gather and have tried though I don't have much success to pass on.

I'd really like to hear from others who have tried this for themselves. What do you use, where do you get it, what flavors do you like, how long do you steep, how do you prep ingredients, what proportions do you use?

Dislike of charge stone confounds me.

Occasionally I get players that make snide remarks about using charge stone. Win or lose they seem to express the notion that it is somehow unfair, unbalanced or just makes someone a bad player.

I can understand being upset at someone who uses the stone to do nothing but spam wall throws. But even that is an easy counter and far from my play style.

I too get tired of people that use stubborn and adamant, especially together. Though I heard they are intending to remove the damage reduction on one in favor of just knock back protection which I think would help.

Volitial too can be annoying when a player relies on it to spam explode cubes and nothing else.

But charge always struck me as having the ability to be a more complex stone than any of the preceding mentioned. Especially when used with other move sets like waterbending, chambering, explosives, flick flail and flight. At least that's how I use it.

So what do you think? Are people just sore or do you agree that charge is a bad shiftstone?

It seems like it's out of meta and I see few people use it with complex style, but I don't get to play much (maybe once or twice a week).

What's your union experience like?

I've been commenting here more recently sharing my experience taking over a nearly defunct union and trying to rebuild it as we negotiators a new contract. And hearing some people's experiences I've been able to offer some advice. But I don't have a lot of exposure to other people's positive experiences. I'd really like to hear how other people are seeing their unions work, standing up for contract rights, saving jobs, bargaining, or just generally helping people.

And feel free to share difficult experiences and ask for advice. I'd love to build a collection of positive experiences to share and increase morale. But I'd also like to generally have an open forum for union experience.

King County Parks field staff union SEIU 925 is looking for support in a wage fight. And r/ Seattle censored their posts!

These workers led the county parks system to a record breaking 1.45 billion dollar tax levee and their management is refusing to raise their wages. Please join their email campaign in support of their negotiations for a living wage and fair share of the value of their labor!

Outward 2 - Can't find a pickaxe

I've really been struggling to make ammo because hours and hours in I still don't have a pickaxe. No one is selling one and I handbrake lied one even after clearing the hive. Please help!

Outward 2 - Using items you try to sell

Using items you are trying to sell is one of the most persistent bugs from the previous beta. I may have just bricked my play through by trying to sell a cooking station. It broke the merchant context and tried to place the cooking station. And I can not unlock my focus from the merchant I am no longer in conversation with and I cannot interact with anything. I can open my inventory and walk but that's it. Other than that eating food, drinking potions and wasting consumables are killer.

In addition there are just so many issues with selecting the wrong item when you go to sell on top of activating them.
