Night out

Hi all!

I 25M am visiting from Colorado. I need to get out of my hotel and go see some sights and enjoy the city. Any recommendations for hidden gems OR just recommendations for places with a good atmosphere?

It’s be nice to be able to go and grab some food, read my book, but also have the opportunity to socialize if that’s what I end up being in the mood for. I’m completely lost out here 😅

Divorce

Hey all, I’m going through a divorce at the moment, and we are trying to figure out what a fair 50/50 split would look like.

My wife is talking about leaving my TSP alone ($60K) if I can allow her to keep our house. Our house is a VA-assumable that we got at 2.7%. She would end up paying me half of what our current equity is in the house (my half would be about $32K), and we would get a contract written where she is only aloud to keep this loan for 2-years while she finishes her degree and IT certs so that she can get into a better job and refinance once she is making better money. The contract would be written in such a way where she would not be entitled to my loan long-term, and she would be forced to refinance after said 2-years no matter what, or she would have to sell.

I am about to re-train into a different MOS that is on constant deployment rotations, and have absolutely no intention of buying a house in the next 2-years.

I guess I’m looking for advice from anyone who has done something like this, or something similar. Any issues I’m not thinking about or anything like that.

I would essentially be transferring the loan to her name, so if she ever defaults, it would not blow back on me, but it also looks like her aunt and uncle want to rent a room here from her, so I don’t believe her family would ever let her get close to defaulting.

TIA!

EDIT: We are both being cordial through this process. She is not threatening anything, we are just throwing out ideas on how to make this all fair.

0211 LATMOV

Hey all!

Current 0231 E-6 looking to latmove to 0211 next year. Just wanted to get the down and dirty on assignments.

I’ve only been in the air wing during my time, and I understand that the 0211’s will almost certainly go to Intel Battalions. As a SNCO who has never been with a “ground unit” what are the things that a SNCO should absolutely know how to do/plan for? I’ve heard that some of them get super moto and decide to do hikes and field movements with victor units, which I wouldn’t mind, I just want to know what things will be expected of me.

Also curious about what the “good” first assignments are as an 0211. I’d prefer quantico, but every 0211 I’ve talked to said that as a SNCO, I can count on getting sent to Japan, where I have heard that they are only used in a CI role.

Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks!

Hey all, just your friendly devil dog lurker here.

At a joint unit and I’ve been asked to read the promotion orders for an officer at their promotion. I know they were previously a tanker in another life. Anything I can do to pay homage to that at the promotion? Do you tankers have any weird rituals of traditions that I can pay homage to in my personal congratulations to them? I just want to make sure I do their career justice and pay my respect.

I’ll take a spinach fettuccine MRE with a bottle of Tabasco.
