A good sales night shouldn’t make me nervous about my payment processor

Had one of our better sales nights recently and instead of being happy about it, I kept checking Stripe wondering if the jump in volume was going to trigger another review.

We’re in a higher-risk category and that was disclosed from the beginning. Nothing about the business model changed, we just had more orders than usual. What I don’t really understand is how processors distinguish normal growth from activity that suddenly deserves another risk review. It feels weird that after building processing history, a strong week can still make you feel like you’re back at square one explaining the business again.
